great 50/50 low initially...strong greenland block...and the PV is well off to the NW. given that i dont think this thing will NOT run into the lakes before going to the coast. it would probably be much further south than what the GGEM implies and then transfer to the coast.

this would be a great set-up for the mid-atlantic and portions of the northeast.

IGNORE the temperature profiles...the GGEM warm bias will always cause the model to improperly forecast 1000-500 thicknesses.

WOW!! The greenland block will force one hell of a wild Miller B type jump to the coast!! The vortex goes in the the GL------but then it reforms off the SE coast---say S.C. That's Wild, I'll say...........but it would be one hell of a major storm for us!!! HELLO snowy jebwalk!!!!!!!

BRING IT !!!

Would CAD be in place? Is there going to be a High funneling cold air south along the Apps to the east? How strong will that high be?

i think you've got this all wrong...the PV is reforming across northwest canada in a more climatologically normal position. it IS NOT the system which the GEM has running into the lakes. which is utter BS. it would be much further to the southeast and then jump to the coast.

but yes a miller type B SECS/MECS indeed it would be.

im not going to beat around the bush here JEB...i think you will get your blizzard this winter but im not sure when...there will be several chances in the next few weeks. but one perhaps two 8"+ events may not be out of the question for DCA.

I'LL TAKE 'EM!!
I'LL TAKE 'EM!!
Oh I want snow so bad!!!
All I wanted was two small things this winter:

1) I wanted my snow-filled jebwalks.
2) I wanted a nice big snow event with no rain/sleet/ZR/Slop, but just to lay my weary eyes on tha radar, and to see all the dark-blue radar returns indicating heavy snows, all heading for Woodbridge, VA!!! Just to enjoy the radar filled with deep blue radar returns of heavy snow for hours, all heading for me!!! To look out my window and see snow!!! Grass COVERED! Roads absolutely indistinguishable from curbs! Oh the wonder of snow! Just to see it blow around!! Just to have it at long last!!!

C'MON PAC Jet!! Do war with my -NAO!!! Come on -NAO!! Don't let me down BABY!!! Give me my 36 inches...................................... let me walk among the pristine white drifts of pure white snow........just one more time.

That I do not live in Florida-----For that fact, I am very much thankful. Not that Florida is not a great place---it most certainly IS----But I will visit Florida in the Summer, when beach jebwalks are at a premium.

This is winter---And I just want to enjoy a few precious snow jebwalks, while enjoying Christian songs. Alabama's songs are very, very good for snowstorms too!!! You should try them sometime!! I have many of Alabama's hits deeply associated with winter cold already!!!

C'MON PAC JET and severely NEG -NAO: Duke it out----And don't you DARE let me down Greenland Blocking!!!

Bring me my precious 36 inches of snow.

Just one more precious snow-filled jebwalk.

Because the next time we have a good winter, I will be an old man.

You got your .00000 inches last year from a freak ocean effect snow flurry event. I was there. It flurried in Daytona up to Palm coast.

SNOW IN VA SOON?!?!?!

#15 Postby yoda » Tue Jan 20, 2004 8:31 am

First post on this site.... hopefuly we get some big snows in the MId-Atlantic sometime soon... we have gotten gipped here in D.C... only 8 inches of snow accumulation so far this winter.... I had predicted 30-35 inches... oh well. :)
With a negative NAO and a possible greenland block for this week and MAYBE next week... and with shortwaves comin around the bend... will one finally develop into a good ole noreaster? PLEASE!!!! :jump:
