Flash Flood Watch Issued

#1 Postby Suzi Q » Fri Jan 16, 2004 12:41 pm

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR SOUTHEAST TEXAS THROUGH 6 AM SATURDAY...

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE IN COVERAGE AND INTENSITY THIS AFTERNOON AND THIS EVENING AS AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE APPROACHES FROM THE SOUTHWEST. THE HEAVIEST RAINS ARE EXPECTED TO GRADUALLY MOVE OFF TO THE EAST BY 6 AM SATURDAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED TO AVERAGE 1 TO 3 INCHES WITH ISOLATED 5 TO 7 INCH TOTALS POSSIBLE WHERE TRAINING DEVELOPS. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR STRONG
THUNDERSTORMS ALONG THE COAST TONIGHT...IT APPEARS THAT THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM THREAT IS MINIMAL.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...SATURDAY THROUGH THURSDAY. HEAVY RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TO MOVE OFF TO THE EAST EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT ADDITIONAL SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP SATURDAY AFTERNOON ALONG A COLD FRONT AS IT MOVES THROUGH SOUTHEAST TEXAS. SOME OF THE THUNDERSTORMS MAY BECOME STRONG OR SEVERE. NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS ANTICIPATED FROM SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION MAY BE NEEDED TONIGHT.

Note that the rainfall totals have been upped from 3-5" to 5-7". Looks like severe potential may pass up by (bummer for me). Ya'll stay safe!

If this rain keeps up here, a flash flood watch would also be in effect in North Texas area.

Great, and my daughter is moving into her apartment in Irving tonight and tomorrow. I don't envy her.

Yea watch out for all those rains down that way eb, your daughter and others. Another problem may be some severe weather possible right along the gulfcoast from se TX east to FL pandhandle. I will try to get a update out for this shortly.
