#1 Postby Stephanie » Wed Jan 14, 2004 4:08 pm

Severe Weather Alert from the National Weather Service

...ATLANTIC NJ-CAMDEN NJ-CECIL MD-COASTAL ATLANTIC NJ-COASTAL OCEAN NJ- CUMBERLAND NJ-DELAWARE PA-GLOUCESTER NJ-KENT MD-KENT DE- NEW CASTLE DE-NORTHWESTERN BURLINGTON NJ-OCEAN NJ-PHILADELPHIA PA- QUEEN ANNE'S MD-SALEM NJ-SOUTHEASTERN BURLINGTON NJ-
... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS CONTINUED THE WINTER STORM WARNING TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY MORNING FOR SNOW ACCUMULATING THREE TO SIX INCHES...

SNOW WILL SPREAD INTO THE REGION FROM THE WEST LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING... AND CONTINUE OVERNIGHT. GIVEN THE COLD TEMPERATURES... THERE WILL BE NO CHANGEOVER TO RAIN... EVEN ALONG THE COAST. WHILE THE SNOW WILL BE DRY AND FLUFFY... IT WILL ACCUMULATE QUICKLY ON THE COLD ROAD SURFACES.

A WINTER STORM WARNING IS NORMALLY ISSUED FOR THIS AREA WHEN SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF FOUR INCHES OR MORE ARE EXPECTED.

AS THE SNOW TAPERS OFF FROM THE WEST EARLY THURSDAY MORNING... INCREASING NORTH TO NORTHWEST WINDS WILL CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF THE SNOW. TEMPERATURES DURING THE DAY WILL RISE LITTLE IF ANY BEFORE PLUMMETING IN THE LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING....

They've been saying 2 - 4 inches all day until about 15 minutes ago.

Radar trends all afternoon support your NWS fcst upgrade. The precip is getting heavier to your west and it's loaded for bear and closing in on you fast.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
