#1 Postby greg81988 » Fri Jan 09, 2004 6:16 pm

I have seen on several weather boards about possible snow storms for MA. I hear one on Wed Night and Thursday adn then again next weekend. Are these different storms? And also which one will be bigger and does any of them look to be really BIG????

Those are different storm systems, but I haven't had a time to take a look into the specifics of the potential events ...

Where in Mass. do you live? The Cape Cod area will get ocean affect snow Sat. Monday some warm frontal snow should bring 1-3 in. to our area as well as above 32 temps for 1 day at least!! GO PATS  I believe the 2 systems you mention are seperate, but it's too early for much confidence that far out.

Greg,

My best guess at this time:

1/14-15--an appreciable but not significant snowstorm (though some guidance supports the idea of a more significant system)--meaning probably the potential for several inches especially from the Mid-Atlantic to coastal New England. The proverbial jury is still out on this one.

SECS or not, the extreme air mass behind this storm will probably garner the larger headlines, as some of the modeling continues to suggest a memorable Arctic outbreak with the potential for subzero cold even into parts of the Mid-Atlantic.

~1/20--maybe a larger system--some hints of Gulf development. Timing consistent with an analog for a big storm. PV placement and opportunity for phasing could be critical. Still, there is great uncertainty.
