"LOL!" I've heard sarcasim before but NEVER from a NWS forecaster, although, I do have to agree with him!

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FLAGSTAFF AZ
230 PM MST THU JAN 08 2004

.SYNOPSIS...HIGH PRESSURE WILL RETURN TO THE REGION ALONG WITH
WARMER TEMPERATURES AND MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES THROUGH THE END OF THE
WEEK. ANOTHER WEAK DISTURBANCE THIS WEEKEND WILL BRING SOME CLOUDS
AND A SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS MAINLY TO THE NORTHEAST
CORNER OF THE STATE.
&&

.DISCUSSION...A RIDGE WILL MOVE OVER ARIZONA TODAY AND FRIDAY
BRINGING MAINLY CLEAR SKIES AND WARMER DAYTIME TEMPERATURES. A WEAK
SHORT-WAVE TROUGH WILL BRUSH ARIZONA ON SATURDAY BRINGING PARTLY
CLOUDY SKIES AND ENOUGH MOISTURE FOR A SLIGHT CHANCE OF RAIN AND
SNOW SHOWERS ALONG THE UTAH BORDER.

IN THE EXTENDED...NOT MUCH TO HOPE FOR IN TERMS OF STORM SYSTEMS
THROUGH THE EXTENDED. MODELS SHOW A RIDGE DOMINATED PATTERN. A SLOW
RETROGRESSION OF THE RIDGE NEXT WEEK WILL RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT
OF AN EVEN DRIER NORTHWEST FLOW. WHOOOPEEE!

That's pretty funny (the sarcasm, not the weather!).

I'm glad forecasters are using sarcasm. Seriously, by honest with the customer. I've written my share of forecast bulletins and it's a real bummer when you have to talk about high pressure day after day. The sarcasm is a nice break for not only the forecaster, but it keeps the customer coming back in hopes for more humor. :D
