For snowfall accumulation for Raleigh,NC? I have read, flurries.....snow showers..........a dusting.....1 inch and 1-3 inches.... Is there any possibility that we will see a measurable snowfall this winter? Thanks. :boog:

Hard to tell by looking at this, but don't think it will be much, cause it's moving too fast, and it is way too dry !

My guess is you will get about an inch of snow from this storm.

If the system develops faster than expected, which is a real possibility, we may all be surprised. That said, a few flurries if it doesn't.

Your forcast doesn't call for any
accumulation :(

Friday. Cloudy. Cold. Chance of light snow. Mainly in the morning and a chance of flurries in the afternoon. Little or no accumulation expected. Highs in the mid 30s. East winds around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation 40 percent

Snowing leaves in eastern NC

#7 Postby Carolina_survivor » Thu Jan 08, 2004 4:13 pm

As I sit in my office reading these posts -- patiently waiting for that first snowflake to fall -- someone in the maintenance department chooses to climb atop my roof and use a leafblower to blow away all the dead leaves. Suddenly there's a downpour! Tons of dead leaves are falling past my window. Looks like snow, falls like snow --- it's just brown and yellow instead of white. If this keeps up, I might get an inch or two of "brown cover" before it's all over.

Keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see an inch or two of the real thing,

Hoping for an inch. Just big fat flakes if we aren't gonna get much. Looks like january should be interesting for us so we can risk not having a big snow tomorrow :)

Just an update, I am in Western Raleigh and we probably have a little over an inch right now. Parking lot is covered and it is 28 degrees. Is there any chance that this upper-level system gets to the coast and blows up and produces more snow for this evening?

Yeah I didn't think so but I talked to my family in Wilmington, NC, and they are supposed to get some snow this afternoon.......on the wrap around from either the surface low to the south or the upper-level low pushing through now. Oh and Mike Maze just said the Temp at the studio on Western was 28 and that is why I said it was 28 here. Man the flakes are huge now.

Started snowing here (Greenville, NC, about 80+ miles east of Raleigh) about 7:30 this morning. Just a light dusting so far -- local meteorologists calling for 1 - 3 inches -- and coming down pretty heavily.

I wonder why they extended the WWA to 4 pm? It is supposed to stop around noonish and from the radar it seems like it could be sooner than that.

Snowing hard here now and looks like on the radar that the system is trying to fill in behind the dry line out to the west a little bit.

I think I am just wishing that it makes it past 11 am. You know being from Wilmington, I didn't get to see much snow so this is always exciting for me.
