Can someone explain to me how the city of Buffalo can be donutted out of the precip?

I do know sometimes if the radar is on the brink or if they are working on it, etc.... that could explain it.

I was south of there and ended up with 4 inches, but was just wondering. Buffalo airport had .3 inches of snow last night where I had 1.5 (at midnight)

A donut hole look to a radar is a sign of virga.

Virga is probably correct, they have the radar on high sensitivity mode. If you took another radar 50 miles away the donut would be over that sight not yours.
