So true, Steph! Sheesh, Galveston had a record below-freezing temp (31º if I remember correctly) for the first time in recorded history in March '02. It's only January. Winter is LONG from over.

January 2nd and 3rd 2004 forecast highs for the D/FW area 74 and 77, Jan 4 thru 6 2004 forecasted highs in the mid 40's.

The last 2 weeks have been 8 to 12 degrees above avg. for highs and 5 to 8 degrees above avg for lows.

Last nights low was 62 which was 7 degrees above the normal high.

Is winter over before it gets started? Hell NO.......Our winter don't get started until mid Jan anyway and I think we will get some snow and maybe a major ice storm before it's all said and done this winter. :D

Depending on how you look at it, winter will be over on March 1 or March 21. If you live in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic, can you honestly look at the way things are shaping up for the next 2 weeks and say "Winter is over"? If so, then you must be a refugee from northern Siberia who thinks any temp above 0 degrees F is warm.

AMEN!!!!

I know many in the MA and NE are used to more and longer periods of cold than has been present of late, but to declare winter over 10 days into the season, before most areas enter there traditionally coldest times is at best ludicrous and possibly smacks of pure insanity!!!

We were in shorts and short sleeves with temps in the mid 70's the last few days, but it was 33º 3 days ago. That certainly doesn't sound like inter is over to me, at least not inSE TX.

they just aren't used to the big swings in temperatures or some of them just like to complain. :)

For myself...I just accept the season for what it is one day at a time. :)
Getting hyper about whether something pans out or not doesn't accomplish anything.
