Anyone else hear about Saddam ordering british and...

#1 Postby JQ Public » Fri Mar 07, 2003 8:34 pm

Anyone else hear about Saddam ordering british and american replica uniforms? I heard about it on CNN as a breaking story and then didn't hear anything else. From what i heard either he will use them to let his troops sneak into our side or injure innocent people and then blame it on the US/Britain. Oh well I just wanted to see if anyone heard about that?!

I saw a similar report on CNN. That will qualify those caught to be shot as spies. It's not quite as easy as just dressing the part though. If the troops are disiplined then you go through a whole challenge routine with people who you don't know...stay sharp guys!

I heard that Iraq may be employing surplus or stolen US and UK uniforms for their troops, then sending them out to ravage Shi'a and Kurdish sites with "conveniently placed" cameras to record the "brutality" of the coalition forces for internal and international viewing.

This from several sources (FoxNews, MSN News, Yahoo!News, etc.)

The trick here is, now that we know about it, will this ploy "work" for him or against him?

I wonder if the French or the Germans are supplying them...

The French and Germans have their own peculiar camo patterns; however, the Dutch use the UK "DPM" camos, and some of the NATO countries make and supply our "Woodland" patterns (The Polish "Presidential P-93" is a very close, but independently-designed match with some color differences).

Russian patterns ("Flora", VSR "Schofield") can't match what we are using ("coffee-stain" and UK DPM "desert"), but there are private printers that make fairly good copies, mostly Honduras/Dominican Republic for worldwide sale, and I believe China has been issuing copies of at least our "sky camo" (HALO use) to their troops for some time.

I have catalog after catalog detailing the different types, and I can obtain any or all of them (if I had the excess funds to do so); Saddam has no such cash-flow problem.
