The rain here changed to huge, sloppy wet snowflakes after 6 p.m. Grass quickly coated but pavement stayed wet. Snow's over for now. That was it down here! Zilch....LOL But it was pretty for a while there.

Quick edit.....spitting rain now with snow occasionally mixed in. Very light accumulation though.

Still snowing here. Radar shows no let up for awhile anyways.

Have about a 1/2 slush on the grass and cars.

Unusual setup... fairly localized coverage of the wet snow, while most of MI still remains in RAIN to the north. The 500mb low is manufacturing enough cold to allow for the snow to make it to the SFC before melting, even though, many locations remain ABV FRZ.

Mary...same here...I was out in it about 6pm, traffic was horrific, backups everywhere...however, on the upside, I did get my shopping done last night...

Well the snow started back up at around 6 pm or so. Have a new inch and a half. The call here is for up to 4 inches by tomorrow afternoon. We will see.

Light snow is falling right now. Snowbelt areas of OH/PA are expecting up to a foot and a half by tomorrow evening from the lake.

1 1/2 inches of lake effect snow. We had moderate lake effect snow last night from about 10:00 P.M.-12:00 A.M. and the rest of the night flurries. There was considerable blowing of the snow. Thanks to Lake Michigan, we will see a White Christmas :D

Areas to my NE may see total accumulations 4-10 inches by the time its all said and done. We will see.

Congrats on the Lake Effect Snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

You guys ENJOY that Lake Effect Snow!!!!!! ENJOY your White Christmas!!

Please think of Jeb when you watch it come down and blow around!!! :) Shovel it good and pile it up on the north side of objects!!! Don't let that dreaded sun get to your shoveled snow!!! Protect it well!!!! With 14 inches of snow you should be able to pile it up to at least 4 feet!!!!! Then take a jebwalk and admire all the snowpiles in your local regions!!!!

Please, just do it for Jeb lol :)

-Snowless in N VA!!!!!! BRING IT!!!! I'M READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We received a dusting over night. The real stuff is supposed to start sometime this morning. It's already white, but nothing like it will be this afternoon.

Yes, King, I remember s/e of DC always got rain, or at best sleet. I do remember one year -- 87 or 88 (February) we got back to back 12 inchers in Charles County, and schools were closed for two weeks. It could have been less, but the bus drivers were on strike, so it was an excuse to not have to deal with that problem, as well.

I'll be reporting throughout the day.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Snow has picked up as of 8:15am and as of 8:25 we have the winds picking up. It might not be like the storm last year in Eastern NY (we got 18 inches on the 24th, I think), but it's going to be the biggest so far this year.

Up to 5 inches so far. Tapered off a bit, but it'll pick up in a while.

I had a feeling about the lake effect machine under this low.
