#1 Postby therock1811 » Fri Dec 19, 2003 2:51 pm

Well, local NWS reporting station has light snow falling here at the moment...but I'm seeing moderate to heavy snowfall, temps in the 20's, and I can't even see the top of my street......What in the world is going on here??? My local radar:

That's great...just try to stay indoors, the roads will be bad...it isn't really sticking to roads here, but with visibility so bad (i.e. less than 1 mile), it is still dangerous..............

Nice, Lisa. I can remember growing up and sledding on 2 inches, because sometimes that was a lot of snow for us

Just talked to my grandmother since they're going out tonight and I'm certainly not going to call them before I leave early tomorrow morning. I asked her how it was there. She said it skiffed a bit of snow last night and it's snowed all day today. They have about 2 inches on the ground right now and, as usual, a bit of ice on the roads.

Anyone have any reports for TN or MS? I'm going to be busy doing laundry and packing tonight so I won't be online much, but I'll try to slip in one last check before I leave in the AM.

Thanks!

it's been snowing here since 11 too :) Ground is too warm for it to stick, but it is sticking to the porch and my car. NWS said flurries also, lol.

Uncle Terry (aka Newman) estimates we have about 5"...I don't think it's that much, more like 3".

Jeremy - I got stuck in that light now this afternoon. With both kids, trying like the dickens to leave the Eastgate Mall area. Picture the Florence Mall area by you, and the many roads in and out. Well, the Eastgate area was entirely gridlocked. Every road and every service road. Cars sliding all over the place, getting stuck in ruts, curbs, going off the road. It was crazy! Cars suddenly backing up on you, doing a U turn, just to turn around. I had Nina with me, of course. She's a new driver, has only her temps. She was so glad not to be driving in that mess. Me? I haven't been in a situation like that in years! I'm a stay at home mom here.....LOL We hung out at the mall for an hour, hoping traffic would have died down. It didn't. All in all, it took us almost 3 times as long to get home as it usually does. And I kept saying - I'm usually up on the wx.....I dropped the ball on this one! I said it's not my fault - I have xmas shopping on my mind. LOL

We all dashed out without gloves, my windshield scraper was in the garage.....grrrrr. This little 4 hour outing (should have taken 90 minutes at best) sure reminded me I'd better be more prepared for winter.

Mary

PS - we were going to bake at least 10 dozen cookies tonight. Oh well......we joked about checking into a hotel over there. It was that bad. Oh my.....LOL
