Cyclone risk in northern Australia

#1 Postby senorpepr » Wed Dec 17, 2003 12:58 pm

Australia's Bureau of Meteorology says a tropical low in the Arafura Sea off the coast of the Northern Territory has a high risk of developing into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.

The bureau says the low is situated 324 kilometers north of Nhulunbuy and is moving west at 15 kilometers per hour.

The Territory's north coast with north east Arnhem Land is experiencing squally rain storms and the low is continuing to develop.

Will likely move inland near Darwin this weekend...won't have much time to become too strong.
