Snowstorm or Blizzard Before Christmas??

#1 Postby Chris the Weather Man » Sat Dec 13, 2003 4:46 pm

Is there a possible Blizzard before Christmas??? I read that on the Wright Weather Board. I believe DT posted it. He says It looks like Feb 11-12 1983 Snowstorm. My Pa said that at the end of the storm, recorded 22-24 inches in 24 hours! :D

February 11, 1983 storm dumped 17 inches of snow here in N VA. Temp was 19 at beginning of the event, dropped to 11 by the end.

I saw the thread you are referring to, Chris. The blizzard of 1983 is my favorite snowstorm of all time, so any storm even resembling it has my interest. Of course, this is many days away so it will likely change.

Yes, John, that was some storm. I remember it quite well. That was the one that gave us in Allentown/Bethlehem 26". Also for 2 hrs that evening we had a snowfall rate of 5" per hour. My Dad had a 1972 Caddy Coupe de Ville, and I watched as the thing literally disappeared before my eyes!!!
