Just venting

#1 Postby Suzi Q » Fri Dec 12, 2003 12:54 pm

Ok, we signed closing papers on our refinance/cash out last THURSDAY. I was told to expect a check by Tuesday. Well, it's now FRIDAY and guess what, no check!!!!! I have made numerous calls to the mortgage company and the title company. The mortgage company guys transfers me to his assistant, who has not returned my calls since yesterday and the title company NEVER returns my calls. After doing some checking on the internet this morning I discover that the mortgage company has an UNSATISFACTORY record with the BBB and the title company has had 3 complaints in the last 12 months. I am absolutely seething, I mean these people owe me over $18,000 which may not seem like much to some people but it's alot to us. Not to mention that my bank will place a 5 day hold on any funds from out of state which means it ain't gonna be no holly jolly Christmas at the rate we're going. Sorry, I am so hacked off I can't see straight. And not to make a blanket statement, but watch out if you deal with Novastar Mortgage or First American Title. Like I said, just venting, but this sucks in a huge way. Bah Humbug. :grr:

I feel your pain. The bad rating by the BBB doesn't necessarily mean you are getting the shaft....this is the busiest of all times in the Re-Fi market with everybody trying to get the tax deduction for this calender year as well as free up money for X-Mas.

However..that being said...you need to go over everybody's head and do it in person! (I'm assuming this isn't an internet Di-Tech kind of thing).

Good luck and stay on their A**!!!!!!

You can also call the banking commission in your state! I promise, you will see results.

Hopefully you did not do business with a man named W.D. Blair, because he is a crook.

J... when a company is reported to the Better Business Bureau, that does mean something. It means that they are conducting bad business. If the BBB has deemed this company UNSATISFACTORY on it's own, then rest assured she got the shaft.

Lin...I by no means was sticking up for this Re Fi company, only offering a probable explanation for the lateness of the check! Sorry...I think it came out wrong.

Hang Em!!!!!!!

Oh no eb! Well, keep in mind that it's possible it's on the way, just slow arriving. If it has been mailed, that is running slow right now due to Christmas. And I've yet to find a company that returns calls promptly and I don't get shuffled from one person to another. Service generally stinks these days.

And yes, that is a lot of money to me too! I pray your check arrives tomorrow!! ;)

Update

#8 Postby Suzi Q » Fri Dec 12, 2003 4:10 pm

Well, after 700 calls and getting my lawyer involved, lo and behold, the check is being delivered to my house this afternoon. Supposedly. I'm sure some of ya'll thought I was over-reacting (which I prolly was) but after getting writers cramp signing all those paper and hearing promise after promise, it tends to make one a little cranky. Thanks for all the good thoughts for everyone. I swear this day has been worse than taking my finals!

I don't think you overreacted, but it has probably taught us all a lesson. I know that I will check the BBB website before I do any deals like that in the future. I am glad things are straightened out. Hopefully you will have that holly jolly Christmas.
