Gifts From Your Employer....

#1 Postby Guest » Wed Dec 10, 2003 12:36 pm

Do you received gifts from your employer? I work for the local city government and each Christmas they give us a free turkey. Also, we are given a catered luncheon each year.

Just curious on what others get...

My boss gave me a little stautette of a child holding a dove and a small tree. Unfortunately it fell and broke into several pieces before I could get it in the house.

ahhhh..the infamous Christmas Turkey to show their appreciation for all the hard work you've put in all year.

j/k -- something is better than nothing..but the $20 gift card for the local grocery store my company gives, pales in comparison to the $800 dollar bonus the doctors gave my wife for X-Mas bonus.

I used to get a 2500 dollar Bonus when I worked for Allstate. Only got a 1000 dollar bonus from the Judge. But hey, I am not complaining.

My boss makes hundreds of cookies, and yes, I mean hundreds! Brownies, lemon bars, chocolate chip, macadamia, meringue, peanut butter, sugar, Mexican wedding cakes (or whatever else you call those ones that are like pecan sandies with powdered sugar), etc. She puts together big huge beautiful gifts baskets (she said she worked at a florist when she was younger, and by the looks of the arrangements, I know she was good at it).

So...cookies! :)

This is the first Christmas with this manager and we are having a big dinner and casino night. Some of the prizes that will be auctioned off with our casino winnings (fake money) are week-end get-aways, TV's, I think they may even be auctioning off a laptop!! We are all really excited this year because he has also mentioned a cash bonus which we have never gotten before~! I will let you know what comes out of this, our party is Sunday night!

We once got a formal christmas party at a hotel downtown every year. They decided to skip that this year. We always get a semi-potluck luncheon- they provide the meat and we provide the veggies and desserts. Get one at Thanksgiving and one at Christmas. We also get luncheons for birthdays in our part of the office (resturant of our choice) and officemates give presents for a little party.

But no bonus and no party :(

Better than nothing!

I get a cash bonus every year and we are being taken to a local steak house for lunch on Christmas Eve and then we get to go home. My boss is very generous at Christmas time.

I get the opportunity to work Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Night. Did I say opportunity? I meant it is a requirement. Merry Christmas to me, Merry Christmas to me.

At least I will get some time to spend with my Wife and Kids. Not too sure if I will get a chance to see the rest of the family though.

I just found out today that we are getting an Xmas bonus this year for the first time in about 4 years. We had a very good year this year. It will be about 2-3% of salary, adjusted by various incentive criteria. Engineers!
