This all began with my comments made, in this thread, at 1:11 pm Eastern. WetterKerl responded to it at 1:24 pm Eastern. Hopefully (my) they were made in an appropriate fashion.

What is so "good" about "edginess"??

WetterKerl (WidreMann) wrote:Because it's BORING. That's not how people work. And the only reason it exists here is because it is strictly enforced.

Wright-weather bulliten board is what's wrong with our profession today. It is the symbol of un-professionalisim and ignorance in meteorology that has no place in this line of work. Debating is fine to me, but when it becomes personally attacking, thats where the line should get drawn.

And I pitty those who find that sort of immature, high school level activity "fun". They need to get a life and a clue.

I post at both WWBB and here, although I spend more time here now. The flaming at WWBB does get out of hand, but I try to look past it because there certainly are some very insightful weather-related posts (from DT, Meteotrade, HM, SACRUS, jberarde, JetStreak, etc.). Of course, this place is starting to become that way with RNS, NEwxgirl, donsutherland, Stormsfury, King of Weather and WEATHER53. So much great information to read about upcoming winter weather and so little time in each day! 8-)

I second that!! Actually the guy is a bit scary in his views. Glad he is outta here.

To add to my thought earlier... I'm a firm believer in the "when in Rome" philosophy when it comes to boards like this. There's good information to be had at several sites, but each board has its own jandra as to what is acceptable and what is not. If people don't mind flaming/getting flamed, then boards like WWBBB are fine. If that's not your cup of tea, then this board is great.

I'll admit there's times when I'm having a tough day, and I feel like unloading on someone, that I *gasp* actually looked forward to "Great One" posting something ridiculous just so I can tear him a new one. I guess it's a guilty pleasure I enjoy from time to time. However, it's something I'll never do here, because that's not what this board is about.

as a wwbb poster, and a storm2k lurker(but alot of you know me), i gotta say that theres nothing wrong with wwbb. its just a diff personality. storm2k is a more southern based trop board, wwbb is a more ne based winter board. no need for this hostility. i sense that some of you just despise wwbb and prob me for posting there for 3 years. and i mean pure hatred. save the hatred for osama or saddam because theres no need to get hostile over weather boards. such a small part of life. i say, we both exist and thats it.

Excuse me Rob but there is no hatred here. Problem seems to lay with a few of the trolls at wwbb which you know who i mean. BTW this is ALOT more then a tropical board as seen by all of our new great additions to the site such as RNS, Newxgirl, Don, SF, Wx53 and myself to name a few who are into the winter discussions hard core such as those at wwbb and i for can HONESTLY say the discussions (And results forecast wise) here are as good as any you will see on wwbb when the talk is about the winter and not even to mention the tropics..................As i say to each his own.

Great post btw Newxgirl!!!!

I didn't mind his views, and I thought he was very intelligent, just immature and hostile. Don't need that here!

Rob - I don't know where you get that people "hate" you. :-? Everyone has their personal preferences as to where they like to post. That's cool. There are differences between the boards. All are welcome here but if you choose to post at WWBB or somewhere else more frequently, then that's no problem. It's been nice to see more of the WWBB folks stopping by and hopefully finding a new home (or second home) here.

NEWxGirl's post was great. She summed it up better than anyone else could have IMO. That was perfect. :D

Yes we all have our moments of agreement and disagreement; but it is when we disagree that we need to learn to get along. No one is perfect, and we all need to realize that. Name calling is not OK and it will not be tolderated at S2K. Neither will profanity or racial slurs. Or trolls. ;)

Excuse me rob... no one hates anyone here. This is not just a Southern Tropical board either. Hopefully Tom will have the stats of where members are from here at S2K. If I had asked some of the questions at WWBB that I have asked here at S2K, I would have been flamed at WWBB.

From posts that I have read at WWBB there is nothing but contempt and hatred there by members.

actually lindaloo, new members get warm welcomes unless they ask how much for philly 10 million times lol. seriously, thats the kind of new members that get flamed. ive seen those kind of members come on here and get dissed as well, as they deserved to be. no prob with asking it once but asking it every day is too much. usually if anyone asks reasonable questions, they are answered in a nice manner. i think you guys just think of the flames when the vast majority of posts are anything but. there is a big difference between an arguement and all out flame war.

i didnt say storm2k is just a trop board but if you look at member locations, a majority are from the south and post the most (wx posts)during cane season. wwbb is also not a total winter board. in fact, until this past winter storm, the record number of people was set with hurricane issy back in sept. but each board has their season of most posters.

Hey, Rob, I don't think people hate you here. I, for one, value your insight, and there are some good debates going on here, but you won't get your head bashed in if you happen to see things differently, either.

you see, people take this board stuff too seriously. if someone flames you, just laugh and mess with them. you will always win.

I have browsed this forum for several months, and I still believe the WWBB is somewhat better as far as the expertise. However, this board is far, far better than weather.com's and makes for a good visit.

While this board is more "mannered" than WWBB, I do have one point of constructive criticism, however. I used to teach a email and Internet writing etiquette class when I lived in Pittsburgh. One main point I would stress to the class is to keep the exclamation points to a minimum. One is fine, two is okay, three is really pushing it, and anymore means you are screaming. Screaming to make a point is annoying when a seven-year-old does it, but quite sad and disturbing when an adult does it.

It's part of a general rule that you should never post or send anything you wouldn't say to someone in person. WWBB and 99 percent of all boards generally ignore this, of course. That includes the 10 exclamation points, unless you do that in real life, which would mean you must have Internet access at the asylum.
