Activity spread a bit further east across central Illinois, between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM Eastern.

11:30 AM EDT to 1:30 PM EDT: 11,237

The most activity was occurring across eastern Texas and the western Gulf of Mexico. More isolated activity was across southwestern and northeastern Arkansas, as well as along the Ohio-Indiana border.

Other thunderstorms over southern Illinois and central Missouri were the oldest strikes in this two hour period.

Thunderstorms have developed rapidly this afternoon from extreme western Kentucky south-southwestward to western Louisiana/northeastern Texas, as well as southeastern Texas.

40.5% increase.


Thunderstorms were developing on the Kansas/Texas border, across south-central Texas and over northern Mexico, near the southern Texas border.

(Also an area off the North Carolina coast)

Severe thunderstorms across southeastern Texas and strong to severe storms from central Texas northward through Oklahoma, extreme southeastern Kansas... continuing northward through Missiouri, Iowa and southeastern Minnesota.

Lightning strikes were occurring over southwestern Missori (over Garrett's area), northeastern Oklahoma and a longer line from northeastern Alabama, south-southwestward through the Mobile, Alabama area into the west-central Gulf of Mexico, including at the mouth of Mississippi River.

Only a 6.3% decrease.


Intense thunderstorms were occurring in the eastern Gulf of Mexico moving toward the Florida peninsula.

Another line of storms was over extreme western Kentucky, western Tennessee into northwestern Alabama.

A cluster of lightning was over north-central Mississippi.

An 18.4% decrease.


There was a line of thunderstorms from near Gary, Indiana to near Beaumont, Texas (with a break southern Illinois, extreme western Kentucky, extreme northeastern Arkansas/extreme western Tennessee).

Activity was occurring in the western Gulf of Mexico and older lightning strikes were across northeastern Louisiana and west-central Mississippi.

Most of Louisiana and Mississippi was covered with lightning strikes early this morning. Other areas include central Arkansas and across the bootheel of Missouri into extreme western Tennessee, extreme western Kentucky and extreme southern Illinois.

6:00 pm EST to 8:00 pm EST: 9,698

Thunderstorms were concentrated over the western Gulf of Mexico north-northeastward into southeastern Louisiana, extreme southern Mississippi, extreme southern Alabama and the panhandle of Florida.

Another (smaller) cluster was occurring over north-central Mississippi; as well as some older strikes (between 6:00 pm EST and 7:00 pm EST) across extreme southeastern Arkansas.
