Weather for the South...
I know living down here in the South as in Texas isn't as exciting as up north with all the snowstorms and winter precip. But what does the weather look like for us down here for rest of December.
Thanks,
Patricia

Get ready for rain, Ticka.
Special Weather Update...for strong thunderstorms
Issued by the Jamaica Beach Weather Observatory
12:35 PM CST Tuesday, December 9, 2003
...Line of strong thunderstorms approaching Galveston Island...
At 12:22 PM CST...National Weather Service WSR-88D Doppler Radar in League City
indicated a line of strong thunderstorms rapidly approaching Galveston Island.
The leading edge of this squall line extended from near Liberty...southwestward to
Baytown...Friendswood...Angleton...and Freeport then extends out into the Gulf
of Mexico beyond 100 miles southwest of Freeport. This line is moving rapidly East
at 25 to 30 mph and should reach Galveston Island within the next half hour.
Boaters on West Bay...Galveston Bay...Trinity Bay...East Bay and the nearshore
and offshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico should seek safe harbor immediately.
Wind gusts in excess of 40 knots (46 mph) and dangerous lightning strikes are
likely with this squall line. In addition...brief but very heavy rainfall will reduce
visibility to less than one mile creating hazardous navigational conditions.
Thunder began at the Jamaica Beach Weather Observatory at 12:28 PM CST.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch No. 979 is in effect for the Houston/Galveston
Metropolitan Area until 1:00 PM CST.
Further updates will be issued as conditions warrant.
