Old Town Alexandria- a beautiful early season snow

#1 Postby jtuckermartin » Sat Dec 06, 2003 5:11 pm

Call it a bust if you want around here but it is gorgeous along the Potomac River today. About 2 inches of snow fell overnight, with heavy bursts around 3 AM. Bushes, trees, houses all look like a postcard here just 5 miles East of DC. Yeah it wasnt 6-12 inches but for early Dec. anything we get can be considered a bonus climatologically speaking. Out to enjoy the lighted boat parade- northern folks enjoy your blizzard!

Unless it floated away with all the recent floods since I moved, isn't Alexandria more south or southwest of DC? :?:

Old Town is more Southeast of DC. The rest of the city does extend further to the west- but Old Town is the traditional southeastern quadrant of old DC

I'm sorry dude, and forgive the anality, if that is a word, but Old Town is neither east nor southeast of DC whether its by old standards or modern day standards.......Look at this map, hope the link works..LOL...All of ALEX is due south of DC..the Potomac runs up the right side of ALEX due north with a slight NW twist right into the western part of DC past CONST AVE.most of DC and even G-town lays to the east of the Potomac......its due south I tell ya LOL....... :D ..Im sure wx 53 can substantiate this one as a longtime resident.
