I dont know if it's going to happen about this possible move by the US but I dont like it a bit because then the South Korean forces will be alone to defend their territory in case of an attack by North Korea.

What do all think of this possible withdraw of the 37,000 troops from South Korea?

Pulling our troops out of South Korea would be a big mistake IMO. These forces serve as the only deterrent keeping North Korea from taking over South Korea. I can understand repositioning them further south and letting the South Korean Army man the DMZ.

The ones in Germany should comes home as soon as possible. They were in Germany to protect Westen Europe from the Sovit threat. With the Cold War over, these troops are not required. With Germany's attitude toward us let them defend their own damn country!

BIG mistake, to be sure! The massive US presence in Germany is, as mentioned, no longer necessary.

A repositioning may be a good idea tactically in South Korea, but it leaves Seoul wide open to rapine and mass murder...some of us haven't forgotten what happened in 1950-53.

The pressure on the South Korean forces is from South Korea itself. There is a lot of popular pressure to reduce or remove the US military presence in their country. Unfortunately, many people have now forgotten why they are there to begin with....

The withdrawal from Germany makes a lot of sense. The Soviet threat is just not there anymore. The Soviet armoured threat of the Cold War was the reason for them being there to begin with. Why should we keep pumping billions of dollars into their economy? Obviously the French and the Germans think they can do a better job without our presence. Who knows, maybe this time we'll let Germany keep France :D

I would think that with the recent current events South Korea would probably want them around now.

Having 70,000 US troops in Europe on the other hand is pretty crazy at this point in time.

I agree with Marshall. Relocate in South Korea and pull out of Germany.
