DESOTO, Texas -- DeSoto police have arrested one of two suspects they believe beat, robbed and kidnapped a 64-year-old woman in October.
Police say they arrested Brandon Burdette, 19, (pictured, left) at his Cedar Hill home without conflict early Wednesday morning. He has been charged with aggravated kidnapping, assault and robbery.
Authorities are trying to negotiate the surrender of a second suspect through an attorney, police said.
In October, two men broke into the Desoto home of Nancy Barber. The two home invaders allegedly beat Barber, robbed her, then tied her hands and threw her into the trunk of her own car.
The suspects then drove away in Barber's car, but she managed to pull the trunk latch and jump from the moving vehicle.
Barber was badly bruised, but recovered from the incident.
Police say, if convicted, Burdette could face a sentence of life in prison.
