First, you must complete your Basic Military Training (I'm thinking it will be in 3708 BMTS [all-female], but it's been a LONG time!)...THEN you go to your Technical School for further training in your AFSC (specialized job description) before the AF would have any use for you, overseas or anywhere.
NO WAY would they take a totally green BMTS grad and send him or her into harm's way without secondary training.
You will see the Air Training Command motto everywhere..."PREPARE THE MAN" (or woman), and that's just what this man's AF will do...completely. "Ain't no doubt in my military mind" about this. OK?
Bill, that's what I had figured, I have to complete BMT and Tech school first....I was thinking ahead on that fact...I need be in a military mindset first before getting deployed to SW Asia. I have to atleast know my AFSC job before walking into the action.
I will keep you guys and gals posted while I'm away. Garrett (wx247) has kindly allowed me to send him letters from BMT that way he will post my progress here on the boards for everyone to read.

ok first off no worries. you will not go anywhere until you are
Secondly I wish you luck and an easier time in Basic than I had LOL. I had EVERY job in basic from Dorm Chief to Lattrine Queen
so DONT VOLUNTEER FOR ANYTHING LOL and stay hidden as long as possible. Now I am not saying not to help your fellow dorm mates but keep it LOW PROFILE
and you will be fine.
So don't worry you will go on a deployment but not until you have had the training, schooling, and AFSC upgrade from the 3 level to your 5 level
Speaking of the Levels I am FINALLY off to 7 level training in Feb
so BILOXI here I come Driving my ride....can't wait!!!

Ok Shannon, what does this mean to school and your AS degree. Have I missed the fact that you are graduating this month? Sorry if I am my usual day late and several dollars short on this subject.
My prayers for you will now change a little as you move to another adventure in your life. I know you will do well at whatever you do and whatever they teach you. Heck, I'd trust you to transport me anywhere!!!
As always-YOU GO GIRL!!!!
I SALUTE YOU AND EVERY OTHER MILITARY PERSON, CURRENT OR VETERAN FOR YOUR DUTY TO OUR COUNTRY AND OUR FREEDOM.

I echo what David just said, did I miss something here??
NOW.......Bootcamp for all intents and purposes is a CAKE WALK as LONG as you LISTEN and PAY ATTENTION to "small details." You'll be doing some odd things at times but the reasoning behind these things is to get your mind into thinking about your every move, your every action and like I said, paying attention to the smallest of details.

Graduating....Heck no, I have a while before Graduation from UWGB. Although I am a senior, I still have a year to go (Its because of a double major and a minor). All the classes that I have to take are FS (fall semester only) or SS (spring semester only)....I took off for the Spring semester because that would not have any problems with class scheduling. As of right now, May 2005 is expected graduation (pending I pass all my classes, which shouldn't be a problem)
Aaron....I will definitely follow your directions. I usually like to make my presence felt, but in this case, I will do whatever I am asked to do.....and no arguing! Listening and obidence is the key in this instance! I heard the TI's like to disguise chores (ie bowling.... cleaning toilet bowls) .... my mom works with people that went through the AF BMT. I also work with someone that was AF for 4 years....she told me take what you get.....and don't argue with the TI's. I talked with my recruiter yesterday also and he said not to be worried. I have to get to 5 level first...he basically said the same thing that you posted.
Bronni.... If Garrett does not keep everyone updated....you have permission to take the hair dryer to his snowman avatar.

glad that you got eveything into perspective now Shannon...BTW if you have questions or need advice on the USAF feel free to contact me here or via email. I have served in the USAF for 10 years and will be in for 20 plus, and may be able answer pretty much any question that may come up.
