Monster coastal storm

#1 Postby george_r_1961 » Wed Dec 03, 2003 6:25 pm

Well looks like its finally happening; a low pressure system over the Mississippi Valley will move ENE and combine with a second low expected to form off Hatteras late Thursday or Friday..resulting in a complex powerful coastal storm for the Carolinas northward. This storm will then deepen as it moves to a position off Virginia Beach on Saturday and Sunday. There could be moderate to severe beach erosion from the northern Outer Banks northward to Long Island as well as gale force..possibly storm force..onshore winds..with winds gradually backing to the N and the storm slowly progresses northeastward. Who gets rain and who gets wintry precip isnt certain yet, but coastal residents need to be prepared for battering waves and tidal flooding.

I personally visited Nags Head in October and I can say that the very last thing Nags Head needs right now is a severe storm surge with battering waves.

If they lose any more beach property it will break my heart.

Yeah Jeb i know but i think the main effects from this one will be from the Delmarva northward...but the Outer Banks may still have some problems
