Wait and watch......

#1 Postby StormCrazyIowan » Tue Dec 02, 2003 6:42 pm

Guess that's what I'll have to do!!

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF
NORTHEAST IOWA...EAST CENTRAL IOWA...SOUTHEAST IOWA...NORTHWEST ILLINOIS...NORTH CENTRAL ILLINOIS...WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND NORTHEAST MISSOURI

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE LATE
TONIGHT...MAINLY ALONG AND WEST OF HIGHWAYS 380 AND 218. SNOW AMOUNTS WILL TAPER OFF TO LESS THAN AN INCH...EAST TO THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER. (<----I am right along the Mississippi) AREAS EAST OF THE RIVER SHOULD ONLY SEE A DUSTING OF SNOW.

A STORM SYSTEM DEVELOPING OVER THE CENTRAL ROCKIES THIS MORNING WILL MOVE SOUTHEAST INTO THE SOUTHERN PLAINS BY LATE TONIGHT. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVER WESTERN AND CENTRAL IOWA THIS EVENING AND THEN SPREAD EAST...REACHING EASTERN IOWA AROUND MIDNIGHT. THE SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO EXPAND TO THE EAST INTO NORTHWEST AND WEST CENTRAL
ILLINOIS BY EARLY WEDNESDAY MORNING. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL BE GREATEST TO THE WEST OVER CENTRAL OR WESTERN IOWA. AMOUNTS WILL TAPER OFF TO THE EAST...AS THE SNOW ENCOUNTERS A DRIER AIRMASS OVER ILLINOIS AND EASTERN IOWA. (Yuk!)

IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO TRAVEL LATE TONIGHT OR EARLY WEDNESDAY
MORNING...YOU SHOULD MONITOR LOCAL WEATHER FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS FOR UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON THIS STORM SYSTEM.

ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM MOVING OUT OF WESTERN CANADA WILL BRING A THREAT OF MORE SNOW TO THE REGION THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY. AT THIS TIME IT APPEARS THAT MUCH OF THE COUNTY WARNING AREA COULD SEE SOME MINOR ACCUMULATIONS FROM THIS SYSTEM.

So, maybe an inch for me tonight, and if I miss this time, there is always Thursday into Friday, and if I miss again words are brewing about another system moving in Monday-Tuesday, though in the local forecast discussion they are still being mum on accum. amounts. If I miss from all 3, I'm packing my bags!!

Your local mets aren't sticking their necks out?
LOL, I thought they only did that, here!

NWS is forecasting snow showers on Friday, for us -
.10" - basically, a dusting, but, I'd love to see it,
none-the-less!

Hope you get your snow, gal! :D

LOL, we had a good 2" snow, last year
after the local mets cautiously forecasted
"flurries"...I ended up leaving the office early in
a slippery traffic nightmare - I LOVE those
kind of "flurries"!
