I hear that Joe Bastardi said that there could very well be up to a foot of snow near nyc and north, near the coast after it is all said and done...now, i know he's a bit extreme with his forecasts, but do anyone see some substantial snows coming to the megalopolis?

James,
I don't believe JB exactly called for a foot of snow in the big cities. He said something along the lines that he would be very surprised if there wasn't any snow on the ground from Washington, DC to NYC by Monday morning and that he would not be surprised if there was a foot. In other words, in JB's early assessment, there is a very good chance that the DCA-NYC area receives at least some accumulating snowfall from the coming storm and there also is significant upside potential.
Later, just to be clear, he mentioned that the best chances for a big snowfall are west of I-95.
If one examines yesterday's 12Z run of the ECMWF, JB is not necessarily being extreme in his assessment.
Over here, it increasingly appears that my initial assessment of mainly rain for the big cities of the NE was both premature and may well be in growing doubt. After another run or two of the ECMWF, I'll decide whether or not to abandon my initial idea, which by the way does not rule out significant snowfall inland e.g., Allentown, Poughkeepsie, etc.
From the early look, RNS and Erica have been on top of the situation from the start.

Well from my early standpoint i think just about all of Ohio should see a decent accumulation (4+)???? of snow from this system. The problem is how much. Mainly because of the speed and track of the system. Only areas in question to me would be the nw areas of Ohio up towards Toledo and the Michigan boarder mainly because of Lake and track of system.
Areas to the east of the apps mainly from the cities east are gonna be the tough call as Don/RNS and others have pointed out. Cities west should see a decent snowfall from this which applies to most all from Richmond, VA north to Boston!
The MTS (southern/central apps) of NC/TN/VA/KY/WV/MD/PA should do very well from this system.
Another tough call for snow/mixed will be central/se VA (Richmond, VA) and the Delmarva down into the Carolinas where CAD/Upper level low and possible coastal development (speed and location) will be playing a big role.
Things should become clearer as we get more info from the models etc by tomorrow evening so check in often to see how things are progressing with this storm!

King of Weather, I have a Question:
How much snow will Woodbridge, Va get from this?
Is it really possible that this storm could actually STALL off the coast and become an early-season MONSTER?!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is very possible this storm could do just that which would without a doubt bury quite a few people in snow. Still to early to say however who will get what. Just have that SHOVEL ready Jeb!!!!

Ditto that one! I'm a bit taken aback by how this little monster is evolving and how long this thing may last. I knew that Saturday was all rain and Sunday was a mixture of rain/snow/wind, but from what the models are starting to say TOGETHER, there may be a run on bread and milk Friday!
