This video from Saipan was recorded by a person who is from Puerto Rico and lives in that island. Hear the sound of the winds.

Re: WPAC: SINLAKU - Typhoon

There's a new monstrous outer eyewall and it seems it's trying to shake off the banding feature - if it succeeds, I'll give it the A-word

Re: WPAC: SINLAKU - Typhoon
Some stats that I think are correct:
9 Extreme Wind Warnings ties with Irma for the most for a single tropical cyclone.
The JMA's 920 mbar estimate when it hit Saipan would tie it as the 5th lowest pressure for a landfalling US TC when including overseas territories.
This is the second strongest TC to hit Tinian or Saipan on record... probably.

Re: WPAC: SINLAKU - Typhoon
According to CSU, Sinlaku has racked up 33.9 ACE units. Could be 34 given the adjustments.

Re: WPAC: SINLAKU - Typhoon
Finnally, Sinlaku is doing two things, weakening and starting to move faster. This will allow the recovery efforts in Guam, Rota, Tianan and Saipan go ahead.
