Movement: SOUTH-SOUTHWEST, at 17 km/h.

System information:

- Tropical cyclone GEZANI is developing over the Mozambique Channel, a little over 50 km from the coast of Mozambique and its intensity is at its maximum.

- It is currently located closest to the coast (Inhambane region) and is now heading south, following a coastal trajectory. The possibility of a landfall is now ruled out, but the strongest winds are just under 20km from the coast, near the city of Inhambane.

- Over the next 24 hours, GEZANI is expected to continue its wide turn towards the east while remaining at the stage of a tropical cyclone.

- The system is then expected to move further away from the coast in the southern Mozambique Channel over the weekend, but the forecast trajectory remains uncertain beyond Saturday the 14th. During this trajectory, however, it is expected to gradually weaken.

System information:

Tropical Cyclone GEZANI continues its path across the Channel, weakening as it moves across the Channel. It is currently located 75 km off the coast of Mozambique.

- Its trajectory is evolving towards the south-southeast, moving away from the coast. The strongest winds are just over 30km from the coast, and conditions at Inhambane are expected to improve.

- Over the next 24 hours, GEZANI is expected to continue its journey towards the southeast while remaining at the stage of a tropical cyclone.

- The system is then expected to move further away from the coast in the southern Mozambique Channel over the weekend, but the forecast trajectory remains uncertain beyond Saturday the 14th. During this trajectory, however, it is expected to gradually weaken.

- GEZANI has weakened to a strong tropical storm. It continues its crossing of the southern Mozambique Channel and is now located approximately 320 km off the southwest coast of Madagascar.

- GEZANI is expected to move northeast until Monday morning while remaining a strong tropical storm. However, it could temporarily re-intensify into a tropical cyclone as it passes closest to the Malagasy coast on Monday evening, at an estimated distance of between 50 and 150 km according to the latest forecasts.

The system is then expected to move south again from Tuesday while gradually weakening. It could eventually lose its tropical characteristics around Thursday as it moves over cooler waters.

System information:

- After reviewing the latest satellite data, GEZANI has remained a tropical cyclone. It continues its journey across the southern Mozambique Channel and is now located approximately 250 km off the southwest coast of Madagascar.

- GEZANI is expected to move northeast and then east until Monday morning, weakening to a strong tropical storm. However, its intensity could fluctuate with temporary re-intensifications. For example, on Monday evening it could re-intensify for a few hours into a tropical cyclone as it passes closest to land, at a distance of 50 to 100 km from the Malagasy coast.

The system is then expected to move south and then south-southwest from Tuesday onwards, gradually weakening. It could eventually lose its tropical characteristics around Thursday as it moves over cooler waters.

- This Tuesday, the system continues its southward path, temporarily moving southwest this morning, and is expected to gradually weaken. It should eventually lose its tropical characteristics on Thursday as it moves over cooler waters towards the southeast.
