Hey man. Be happy with what you get. It’s better than nothing. And you’ll look back in July when it’s 105 and say “damn. That was awesome.” I got 3” of the weirdest precipitation I’ve ever seen. Fog snow all day mixed in with graupel. Unless next weekend is a barn burner, I will look back and think how lucky I am.

I just wish everyone hadnt acted like it was gonna be some apocalyptic thing we've never seen before. Thats all

I know we're lucky to get snow at all here. There were moments when it was in the 80s at Christmas I seriously wondered if it would even happen at all for sure

I have a cousin who lives in Choctaw, OK and he’s always telling me that almost every snowstorm is a bust in OK for the most part and it’s always overhyped.

Ha it's funny because the best storms I remember here weren't the ones that were hyped  they definitely love their hype here

A lot of sleet has fallen here in Austin. Looks like there’s still some more to come. So grateful it’s been mostly sleet. Had this been freezing rain, combined with the winds we’ve been having? Yikes.

So the radar looks quiet now, is that it for this one?

Nevermind, I need to adjust my view, I see more stuff out west snd southwest.

Looks like around 5 inches here. I have no doubt if the rates had been better this could have been historic but I'm guessing the fact it's 8 degrees hurt us a lot

Here in Lindale it is 21F with heavy sleet. I'd say overall storm is at 0.1" freezing rain and 2.5" sleet. Sleet has been heavy enough recently to partially obscure footprints within minutes.

Says my low is 9, not sure we make that, what implications will that have on the high temp today......

Currently down to 12.9 IMBY, windchill is hitting 0 or -2 with thr gusts. Shorts and t-shirt weather.

Looks like lake effect snow over Fort Worth, plus the snow band west is slowly creeping in. Wonder how much will fall before it all dissipates

Snow in Texas? What’s that?

Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a certified meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?

All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

After a quick nap I’m up and ready to report on that band when it gets to my house

Looks like despite radar not showing anything it is already snowing light.

OK snowfall busting kind of sucks, but that was more of a ratio issue than anything else. Unfortunately, that can happen when it's as cold as it is (you end up with sugary / sandy snow that's very inefficient for accumulation). Yes, it still ended up being an unusual amount fo snowfall for the region, but that shouldn't preclude having a post-mortem discussion about how the event performed vs. predictions / expectations.

As far as DFW, I'm glad things busted. In fact, it seems Plano happens to be within the precip minimum across the whole Metroplex, as there's still plenty of grass tips visible with maybe about 1/2" of sleet on the ground at best. Aside from the fact that we virtually missed out on freezing rain, the shower-y / streaky natue of the forcing locally kept other impacts (I.E. power outages, heavy accumulation, drifting, etc.) and final frozen/freezing totals in check. Travel is still trecherous, but certainly not the apocalyptic outcome that many on social media and even some mets were hyping up.

And really, the outcome for DFW shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The models for at least 48 hours before the onset were already steadfast on the surface temps dropping below freezing slower than projected Saturday morning, the warm nose aloft being quite deep/stubbron and there being a massive dry slot. If one chose to ignore it, that's on them for being (with all due respect) delusional.

With all of that being said, the focus now shifts to having to survive this god awful polar airmass for the next 48 hours, and possibly some mood flakes (LES) before we warm back up to still unseasonably cold but more manageable temps and head into another dry/boring period...

That's cheating lol. It's really pretty interesting. I wonder how much they can pick up in something like that.

I'd say probably about 6 inches here. A colder version of last January 10th for Oklahoma in my opinion (temps were much closer to freezing then) and that snow melted very fast. This is probably gonna be with us until February I'm assuming. May be a struggle to get above freezing before then

In Lindale, it is 17F this morning, the cold finally filtered around the OK and AR mountains. Looks like just over 2" maybe 2.5" for the event. Flurries for today but doubtful they amount to anything noticable accumulation wise. Single digits and maybe some rural sub 0.lows the next two mornings around here.

Looks like DFW has tied the daily record low (12F) intra-hour.

And if they record anything > 0.1” of snow/ice for the day it’ll be a record.

Record low max is 23 - will be interesting if that’s in jeopardy as well.

7.2 for Tulsa officially at least! I consider that a win for sure considering how much of a struggle those dry fluffy flakes were to really accumulate most of the event
