Re: Texas Winter 2025-2026
Temp has dropped to 46 near Canyon Lake. Getting some much needed rain.
I have a weird feeling this icing event might over perform down here if the hi-res models continue their trends.

Agreed. Best Advice for tonight is to go get a few hours of sleep now to be ready for tomorrow

Did the ULL dig to about where the models thought it would? Is it done digging?
Lots of convection firing near Del Rio…

Dallas will get a ton of sleet. Big event in the evening and overnight tomorrow is going to be legit. Y’all will get 4” of sleet no problem. It’ll be cobblestone ice redeaux on steroids.

Its amazing how december was one of the warmest on record, first half of january was extremely warm, and now we just completely flip the script
Yeah it would be, but this fits some of these la nina patterns (warm overall but hidden in there some big ticket winter weather events). When you eventually flip the script as we've clearly done these can sometimes come in close proximity to each other when you get that polar jet to crash like it's doing now and the AO still cooperating.

Urban core holding strong. I would guess this is the last stand for DFW, and freezing temps will soon overtake it all.

Winter time post are almost exclusively focused on the DFW area.

Definitely a sleet snow mix here. This is with low end radar returns.

Good precip uptick showing up southwest of the metro on radar. That big plume coming in from San Angelo isn't far behind.

Yeah I think temps are dropping slightly under precip, allowing for a changeover to sleet, then slightly rising when the precip passes. With the UHI, the urban core is just under/over freezing in those respective instances. Think this bigger batch moving in might help push us under and keep us there.

I have been stuck at 32 for a few hours basically, so it is being stubborn to drop, but seeing nearby stations dropping more and a colder line coming down from Denton. Feeling pretty good. Should be pretty cool after 4-5 or so.

Radar estimates 5 inches of rain has fallen near Medina in Bandera County this evening- hence the flash flood warning.
Atmosphere is certainly primed.

I’m already down to 42 deg near Canyon Lake. This is coming in well ahead of schedule.

Re: Texas Winter 2025-2026
Y'all got so much precip down there I think it's actually cutting into our snow a bit
Though I had a feeling it would be a slow start and everyone would declare bust and tomorrow night was always gonna be the peak
So far I'm not wrong
I mean it's ok but it's not like some epic storm

Snow in Texas? What’s that?
Don't use my posts as forecast; I'm not a certified meteorologist! I just endorse cold weather, alright?
All observations I note are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.
