Re: Florida Weather
Just me, or have all the Twitter weather people been hyping up this winter really hard? At least for us, I'm just not seeing it. It's been pretty ordinary, with warmer stretches outdoing cooler ones.

Re: Florida Weather
Even some local TV mets jumping on the hype train for the next cold fronts next week, one even saying we could see our coldest temps of the season just because of the GFS. But my question is how could we see the coldest temps if the air coming down is above average where it is originating from. Yes, it will turn colder but I don't see temps being colder than what we have already seen.

Re: Florida Weather
Y'all down in FL might want to keep an eye on the next cold outbreaks, particularly the ones being hinted by long-range models for Late January around the 29-30.
Could this really be the one, if teleconnections line up? Would be on par with 2010 or 1996.

Re: Florida Weather
Florida has been so lucky for so long...but we are overdue for a big freeze. I'm loving the expanded UHI moating off the Tampa Bay region from freezing temps...which was on display during the recent cold. No freeze here...so far...and not even close...But this pattern is high risk

Re: Florida Weather
It certainly has been a while since a big freeze for Florida, models are definitely going to need close watching this time with deep freeze possibilities deep into the state continuing to show up in model runs.
Curiously the AI versions of the GFS and Euro are not showing this freeze penetrating the state. Maybe they are on to something.

Re: Florida Weather
Well if for no other reason then entertainment purposes, keep an eye on each 6 hourly update of the GFS for forecast Florida frozen precipitation or snowfall! Consecutive model runs appearing to drag snow across anywhere between the Panhandle, Clearwater, Orlando, Jax, and even Okeechobee around the final days of this month. The cold air dropping south is looking pretty real but just "how cold" along with where low pressure develops, timing of frontal passage, etc are anyone's guess.
Perhaps a fun "Furthest South Snow Event Poll" ?
- No Snow for Florida or Southeast Georgia
- Limited to West Florida Panhandle
- from Tallahassee, east to Jacksonville
- from Cedar Key, to Ocala to Palm Coast
-from Spring Hill, to Orlando area, to Titusville
-Sarasota to Melbourne
Ft Myers, to Lake 'O, to Stuart and all areas South of there.

Re: Florida Weather
Was worried about the weather for the Lightning's outdoor game in Tampa on the 1st (which I have tickets for) being too warm but that is out the window - now the question is does it snow?
