We sure have been getting a decent windstorm today. Winds have been consistently gusting over 40 mph for the last hour or so.

Same down here, consistently 40mph+, airport peaked so far 47mph...extremely blustery. This cold ULL is potent.

As I noted in prior post, Aleutian troughs often leads to disturbed weather, and sometimes displacement of some cold air down the road. That's been happening, I want to see it continue. When you have strong Aleutian troughs in November, there is typically followed by a big cold outbreak in December, akin 2022.

At least my hometown will be fairly on schedule for their first freeze tonight, though some areas further south will miss it without another one in the immediate future.

The Euro weeklies kind of point in that direction. I think the next few weeks will be seasonable, up and down but likely warmer than normal (for November which is perfect for many of us, given what it has been) with intermittent disturbances. Then I think the Aleutian low will give way either late month or into December a big -EPO led by +PNA first. Just a general look at what cards are being dealt.

No official freeze yet here. It got down to 35 though and the outskirts did hit freezing but not the airport.

I won't turn on the heat until we start hitting upper 50s for highs. As it is now I'm loving having the windows open over night. :ggreen:

Wichita, KS and my hometown north of there hit freezing overnight, so they are pretty much on schedule per average. Hopefully, things will get going for us down here soon with a freeze later in November. Go away, mosquitoes.

Evidence continues to mount that we will see a major shift in the Pacific. Of course this is looking at the next month as a whole but it's noteworthy. There is a strong set of analogs for this kind of progression, if it continues to mount I would hedge bet a major cold wave will appear in the modeling in the coming weeks towards the end of the 30 day period time frame. Not a guarantee but the pattern may very well set up a cold air mass over Central Canada as the Pacific Aleutian trough attacks the young SPV and send ahead a big -EPO.

Two notable early wave 1 patterns that led to major displacement of cold was 2014 (Nuri blast) and late November 2022 that led to the December outbreak. No super typhoon but a major trough and deep low over same region does the same thing.

Cannot be soon enough I mean yeah it's colder now(at least more average... This really isn't cold for Halloween) but 18 days above 80 this month is hard to look at. Maybe the freezes aren't that late but something has just off this month. I'm ready to start over in November even if it is gonna start off a little warm

I am seeing people talk elsewhere about maybe an early winter spell though. We deserve it

Across E TX this morning, low 40s in town and mid 30s in rural areas with low 30s in cold spots. I'm sure there is some frost around rural areas.

A warm up is coming, but their still will be weak fronts moving into at least the northwestern 1/3rd of the state. With a daily battle between the cool fronts and the return flow from the gulf setting up. Things look to be warmer than average for the next couple of weeks, but not necessarily a "blowtorch" though.

Im already seeing signs of changes in the pacific in the GFS/ Euro post november 14th or so, i might have to dial back on a very warm month but still warm overall , will see some 80’s in the days ahead, but if that alaskan ridge returns mid november, we could see colder weather return to the US
