I would not be surprised if Imelda becomes Category 3 hurricane.

Just recorded 980 mb on my barometer. Time to hunker down for the backside.

About 1/2 of customers without power but I haven’t heard of any significant damage. The second half was definitely windier than the first half. Conditions improving now.

Please let us know how you made out with the back side.

Hopefully no damage for you and power restored.

I'm not a meteorologist, I'm an electronics engineer. While I can probably fix your toaster oven, you're not going to learn about storms from me!

New Mexico had no hurricanes. Then I moved to NC right before Fran.....

Lost internet and cell service isn’t working too well but the power stayed on throughout. There was only about an hour or two of hurricane-force winds after midnight. No damage apart from some limbs down.

Bye. The interaction between Imelda and Humberto was very interesting to watch.

1100 AM AST Thu Oct 02 2025

Imelda is no longer a tropical cyclone.

Shops and restaurants are open, I am back to work. Life is going on pretty much as normal already, <12 hours since Category 2 landfall. Climate resilience is a choice.

High GDP helps. The people in North Carolina with vacation homes on barrier islands knew the risks. I hope insurance doesn't cover hurricane damage to vacation homes. Unfair to subsidize the risk takers.

It looks like Imelda is going to hit Bermuda pretty square or so close it won't really matter.

Also stupid to even build there, barrier islands are not permanent, they change during large storms.

Isn't it amazing how the strongest winds seem to occur at night. I hate that.

Stupid? Yes & no. To do so blindly would seem like willful ignorance and yeah, that would seem like flushing money down the toilet. On the other hand, what I would give to still have my small oceanfront lot in Bandon Oregon!! Hardly any view or place as beautiful.... Unfortunately, that coastline will one day succumb to the Cascadia Fault line, and likely become 50' under water - forever). If you got it spend it, but fully assume the risk of loss.

Always. Do eyewalls ever hit at noon?
