Well technically we have had a front or two come through in the last couple weeks in West Central Florida - it was 68 at my house yesterday morning and we've had zero rain chances the last couple days into the weekend. But of course it's still going to be around 90 during the day and it isn't exactly "open the windows" weather. But at least I don't feel like I'm going to die after mowing the lawn now.

Yes. This month has been surprisingly pleasant. Just hope this doesn't mean October will be a scorcher.

Nice lightning show to the S and E. Seeing electrostatic discharges makes me giddy

Slightly less humid by early next week but still quite warm. Also looks somewhat dry in SE FL. Got dumped on today with decent lightning and saw some cool cumulonimbus structures.

The wet season starts winding down around this time of year.

102-104 heat index across parts of SE Florida at this hour :grr: A cold front can't come soon enough.
Maybe the winds that TD #9 will generate starting late tonight and into early next week will bring some relief.

There really isn't any cooler air in sight, DP 78 at my place. It's like July.

Looking very wet later this week and beyond, plenty of time for a Gulf system so beware.

Models pretty much blew it with all of the rain they were showing for South Florida yesterday and today. Mostly sunny and a nice breeze here instead. 8-)

Indeed they did. I mentioned on a post on X that it seems to be a pattern as of late. Good rain chances
5-7 days out then closer to the event things fizzle.

Had to post on the GFS runs. Live by the models. Die by the models. Gatorcane you are so right and if you look at the 18z run. It's pouring here now but no go. Most of the time when the local weather says weekend washout it never happens but does rain some. This time it's been perfect weekend in ft.lauderdale and beach. Oh well glad model mainly GFS was wrong

If the CFS MJO forecast is correct, Floridians should probably keep an umbrella handy for the next 2 weeks. Should be a good deal of tropical moisture and lift during the period regardless whether any strong tropical system strikes the state or not.

The XTC/Nor'Easter that's supposed to develop this weekend looks like it'll be dragging the first significant cold front of the fall through Central Florida by Sunday, with low-80s highs (and 50s dewpoints) together with low-mid 60s lows. And since the low is supposed to linger, that northerly flow should stay in place for 4-5 days rather than the usual quick warmup after a day or two.

Much happier this year on October 7 to be eyeing an approaching cold front than last October 7, when I was on my way to Tallahassee fleeing an approaching hurricane.

Well predictably with an early season cold front, low 80s is starting too look more like mid-upper 80s and low-mid 60s is now looking like mid-upper 60s. But it's something at least.

I'm like yourself, give me just milder temps ... anything!
As for what I'd personally consider to qualify as a "cool" front, that would be highs of 79° or below, and lows at or below 62°

It's more about the dew point with this frontal passage, it will feel different regardless of air temp. We have a decent setup this afternoon for heavy rain, will see, more false alarms than heavy rain the last few weeks.

I think today will be the last day of the rainy season for my area.
