...as we close down and some count the days until December 1. Interesting subtropical burst of convection in the Cent. Atlantic as alread mentioned, but I express my doubts on anything forming; looks too broad. So I think that'll do it for 2003.

I have already released prelims for forecast verifications on track, and thought I would do horribly on intensity, but I surprised myself.

given that the ATC (or atlantic thermohaline circuation) has now switched to the strong cycle (following 1997)...one would be able to expect many more interesting seasons to come over the next 10 to 15 years.

Just remember, that this year with another double digit storm total (10 or more) ... another new record was established since 1851 ...

6 consecutive years of 10 or more storms had never occurred before this stretch ...

My preliminary numbers for 2004 would put that streak for 7 in serious jeopardy (for us tropical weather enthusiasts) ... but I will not release exact numbers right now (though, the hint is less than 10 storms) until I do further research ...

Personally, I thought we were due for a season that was not very active, but we had 14 named storms and a few very memorable storms - including Fabian and Isabelle. It would be tough to bet against a double-digit named storm season for 2004.
