Officially 5F in Lafayette breaking the all time cold record. Some nearby personal stations recording sub 0F this morning.

I just got out and surveyed my house and yard. We got about 1.5-2 inches of frozen slush here. No snowmen unfortunately. It’s still really surreal though! Also the swamp behind my house is frozen solid! Never thought I’d see that!

Right on coast in NE Florida. Just nodged above freezing. All in all not bad here just some isolated road freezing on bridges (95 bridge between Ga and Fl shut down). A bit of sleet accumulation. Should see 40F today which by our standards for daytime COLD. Last such accumulation here was in 89. The happy people from this multi week cold blast work at the electric company!

I've been waiting 30 years for yesterday to happen, maybe longer. Ever since modeling and satellite imagery was available to the public. I can't help but think of the analogy from Apollo 13: if this was the moon and this was the earth, you'd be aiming at a target no larger than the thickness of a sheet of paper. Either too far north, too far south, the diabolical warm nose..the perfect Gulf low is an elusive beast. Even the '93 super storm didn't count, with the warm nose melting until it was almost too late. I don't even like cold weather, but wanted to see this happen. I was up all night watching these models, now it's time to rest. Yesterday was perfect, now I can enjoy a single malt and a smoke. Bring on summer.

This storm is legend. This is the yardstick of all future Gulf snowstorms. Truly unforgettable! We just finished a walk through our frozen neighborhood. I’ve got a fire roaring while I watch the neighbors slide down the road across the street on whatever plastic or inflatable item they could find. The swamp behind my house is so frozen that the branches I threw on it shattered on contact. After checking some more spots, we averaged 2-3 in of snow and slush.

Good news after a couple of nights of re-freeze ahead. You did good on that snow run up the coast in the SE pointing that out well ahead of it getting serious consideration.

The official low in Baton Rouge last night was 7! 2nd lowest of all time. IMBY it was 6.1. Just unbelievable. Supposed to get into the teens tonight but it looks like the temp starts going back up after midnight. The roads look good now after getting a day of sunlight. Still tons of snow around, though. I expect significant melting tomorrow as we get well into the 40s.

I'm not really happy NWS doesn't have us getting out of the 50's for a week or so. This sucks

Sunday and Monday are tolerable just based on how cold it's been since yesterday. But I'll reiterate that for those of us who don't really like cold weather, this sucks. 12 sucks the worst though.

Now we deal with all the wrecks that will happen over the next few days. Alot of shaded areas with ice and will be the problem in Pensacola. .
