You know, there’s a little football skirmish called the Cotton Bowl CFP National Semifinal being held on Friday at AT&T Stadium. I seem to remember another pretty significant football game in the DFW area that was significantly impacted by a North Texas snowstorm. \m/

Main system is just a small s/w coming ashore on the Oregon Coast Sunday evening. It’ll then strengthen substantially around Las Vegas on Tuesday. At the same time, the 2nd s/w that’ll phase with the main system (and reinforce the cold air aloft) will come onshore in British Columbia Tuesday as well
Great explanation!! Like Ntwx said it's going to be a sleepless week. Looking forward to it
Yep snowman … time to stock up on coffee and Red Bull!

Yup, and four dedicated snow plows for two team busses.

That Super Bowl storm wasn’t etched in stone for several days as I recall. Ntxw and Portastorm outdueled Heat Miser (at least that is how I remember it!

Yes indeed! Super Bowl Feb 2011.
Texas winter weather fans won the day against the evil clutches of Heat Miser otherwise known as wxman57.

TWC now mentions “Potential Winter Storm” in the daily forecast for Dallas next week.

Let's not forget the 1979 Cotton Bowl with Joe Montana. Temp was in the lower 20s after a brutal ice storm that hammered DFW. The field was an ice rink.

According to local mets my area in SE Tx is out of the mix for snow/ice. That is great but they usually don't talk up anything even if it is going to happen. Any info besides cold.

Leon Lett vs the Dolphins Thanksgiving Day 1993 was another memorable (forgettable?) intersection of winter wx and Dallas sporting events.

It’s not out of the woods… at least portions of HGX.
I expect most of Texas to be covered in deep cold and precip late month.

Local Mets here in Wichita Falls are coming around to the idea of potential wintry mischief later this week. Still cautiously optimistic though.

For now at least, it seems Kansas City is dealing with freezing rain that has shut down the airport and some roadways.

Yeah it's supposed to be mixed precip more sleet over time until sometime in the morning and then the blizzard hits towards lunchtime
That's the big question everyone is still trying to figure out when does it changeover at the airport... Closer to sunrise and yeah a foot might happen(which again it's been 60 years...)

Its surface temps are also a couple degrees cooler at that time than the gfs, about in line with the icon

ICON incoming...can already see this looks a tad faster than 18z and a little deeper as it drops into Mexico. Going to be interesting.

So is extra pre show or a trend for the DFW area losing out?
