I noticed that also. Hopefully it will happen and effect us in terms of a colder pattern here in the US

Pretty decent agreement that this SSWE will take place on our side of the globe, could be a major one instead of a minor SSWE, Joe bastardi made a video about this a few days ago, saying if the SSWE verifies, its possible we could see february 2021 type cold in this upcoming january, but thats a big IF though

Our usually wrong met is saying 64/37 on Christmas. The good news is that he's usually wrong
.
The EPS still has a decent signal for some snow around the 19th-20th

I read the weekly cpc update about the mjo and its just now getting into phase 5. It mentioned that it will have interference with the emerging lower frequency base state. Anyone know what this means?

The Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) is an important climate phenomenon that can influence weather patterns around the world[43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054](https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/ ... 1daa162054 "1"). When the MJO enters **Phase 5**, it typically brings enhanced convection (rainfall) and westerly winds over the Indian Ocean and Maritime Continent[43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054](https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/ ... 1daa162054 "1").
The **"interference with the emerging lower frequency base state"** refers to the interaction between the MJO and the **El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO)**[43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054](https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/ ... 1daa162054 "2"). In this case, the MJO's signal is interacting with the **low-frequency background state**, which is trending towards La Niña conditions[43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054](https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/ ... 1daa162054 "1"). This interaction can **slow down the eastward propagation** of the MJO and affect weather patterns, such as **enhanced rainfall** over certain regions[43dcd9a7-70db-4a1f-b0ae-981daa162054](https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/ ... 1daa162054 "1").
Does this help clarify things a bit?

It does, but we don't want it to stop propagating through the warm phases do we? 4-6 are very warm phases, especially 6.

Sitting outside while the cold front slowly blows in. A rare time to witness one of my piece of mind moments. The wind shift, blowing leaves, cooler air rushing in. Can't beat it. Total tranquility if only for a short while. God I love winter.

Thursday. Well Wednesday night I'll be in Denver which has been a lot warmer(they had no snow at all when I was there yesterday) and it's supposed to start warming up after this

I know what you mean, but if I’m being completely honest, I can actually go outside and still function relatively normal during the summer, but when it’s cold out, I can’t function. I’m essentially good for nothing. I guess that’s cuz I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and I’m used to the heat. My tolerance for cold weather is pretty low lol

Yeah if this trip is proving anything to me I don't do well with extreme cold... Even with 3 layers on today it was so cold

Cpv17 born in raised in houston, tx, i just function better in the cold, i absolutely despise warmer temps- summer here, spent several years living in Norway, that helped me develop a tolerance for the cold

Hopefully one day you’ll get a chance to move up north. I think you’d be much happier up there. You’re only gonna see snow down here once every 5-10 years, if that. Lol
