Eight or more. It will be a Taylor Swift sized peak.

The eight or more is tempting, but I feel 6 is high enough expectations. I’m thinking two landfalls with one those being a major.

This poll currently has 26 of 31 (84%) with 5+ NS and 19 of 31 (61%) with 7+ NS. I haven’t picked yet.

Going with 5. Seems like thanks to the +AMO but detrimentally active AEJ, we’ll end up with a quality-over-quantity peak and overall season.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Going with 7, waves should be coming off further south pretty soon and have a better chance to develop.

Bold prediction: "Only" 6, but all 6 will be hurricanes.

I'm thinking 4 or 5. If 5 form, then the total number is 10 through September. It'll be hard to get to 23-25 named storms with only 10 through September. Maybe 3-4 in October and one or two in November.

7 of them, and one might be the storm of the year

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

I mean, predicting eight long-track Category 5 hurricanes is not just a hot take, it's a big-bang take

Four, I'm growing increasingly skeptical of an above-average season.

I'm going with 8. I still see absolutely no reason to doubt this season's potential given we're already at triple the average ACE up to date and that we're still entering -ENSO with very warm deep tropics. I expect several Cat 4s/Cat 5s out of these too.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

Five. But one of them will be the Storm of The Season™, major hurricane. Either Helene or Isaac.

I think Beryl may be the only Cat 5 of the season.
