Re: Texas Summer 2024
Was stuck on the tarmac for about 2 hours yesterday on my flight back to DEN. It was close to 90 degrees in the cabin. Everyone was fanning themselves and dripping sweat. Not good.

It really is disgusting that airlines do this. If it's more than 30 minutes, let people off the plane.

Was curious and so I did a quick check. Euro has hope of some cooler temps toward the end, like low-90s.
As for GFS, way far out into September it has 100s in Nebraska, but at least it's not here.

On our departure from Austin to Vancouver back in July, when we were taxiing to the takeoff runway, the air was barely coming out of the vents (open all the way), lukewarm, and wreaked of exhaust. It was sickening for a bit, but only lasted for about 15 minutes. Once airborne, it was chilly and refreshing. But seems like they could do something about the air situation before taking off and getting to gate after landing. Too many people crammed into one place.
Anyway, sorry. Got off-topic, but it's heat-related anyway, while there isn't much else to talk about.

At least we don’t have to deal with those kind of extremes in the summer. Yikes.
Any summer that doesn’t make the top 10 hottest is a bonus now IMO.
The warm winter days tend to have cold days that counterbalance. It's the steady runs of days that are 5-10 degrees above average making all the seasons warmer.

I mean we had a high of 6(5th coldest day ever on record in Tulsa) and a low below zero in January and the winter was still one of the warmest ever here because of December and especially February. We've had way colder winters never get that cold

ENS and OPs lowers overall 500mb heights end of the month. Seasonal stepdown is potentially on the horizon.

Yep, finally, maybe, lol
However, there is an intriguing "cooler" risk cluster showing up in the ensembles. That would be awesome if it were to trend true.

Any cooling is great. My grass looks crap despite watering deeply. Only so much you can do at that temp.
We need rain and cooler, even low-90s will feel much better.

I don't water because my yard is mostly weeds, but it's still green out there. That rogue early morning setup we had a couple Saturdays ago ended up training over my house. Still would like it to be 10 or 20 or 60 degrees cooler though.
