1.25" in the gauge here in East Austin this morning. Looks like about that or less west over the upper Colorado watershed, looks like a bit directly over that drought zone south of Fredericksburg, too. It's not the rain bomb I wanted, but it's the rain we got, so happy enough. Still haven't had to water my lawn this year; but the lakes are in dire straits.

Looks like potentially several consecutive days of 100*F+ temps are looming for DFW next week, starting as early as this upcoming. Sunday.

For perspective, the first 100*F+ day last year wasn't observed until 6/26 (which ended up with 55 days total).

Feels like a broken record every summer it seems like. Rain until early June, then it shuts off until about September or October. I'm glad a majority of the state was able to get a lot of rain this spring. Hopefully that helps keep the temperatures from getting out of control for an extended period of time... but wouldn't be surprised if they do just from recent history.

It’s already almost July this has been way better than the last two years by far.

I got 1.01" yesterday at my abode! :rain: :rain: :rain: Barely reached 80 degrees.

Hopefully another shot at something today before the faucet shuts off.

Scattered tropical showers today mixed in with a little daytime heating are putting down some brief heavy rainfall across the region. Rainfall amounts are beginning to look a bit more respectable.

Most of SA is now looking at anywhere from 1-1.5 inches since yesterday with the southern half receiving the most. Hopefully we can add to that over the next few hours before things begin to dissipate. One more shot tomorrow before we see a return to the hot/dry weather pattern. Some areas locally may very well reach 2 inches before it's all said and done. Not too bad.

Yep the airport picked up over 0.50 inch in 15 mins with a tropical downpour at 4pm. Not bad at all...still have more tracking westward towards the city as well.

My brother In SA (near airport) said he got 1.25" the past two days, and said he'll take it

Getting a couple little tropical downpours this evening. Amazing how much water these little pop-up showers put out in a short time!

DFW is currently at +1.0°F for June. The departure will likely increase further as we head into the final week of the month. If so, while not be record-breaking, that will mean another solidly above average month temp-wise despite the wet soils and all of the rainfall.

There may be a bit of a fly in the ointment though, as there are hints we could at least be grazed by ROF convection out of OK/KS/AR midweek with a transient breakdown of the eastern ridge.

BTW, 2024 is also the 5th warmest year to-date on record for DFW (warmer than both 2022 and 2023 to-date), even with a January that was well below average.

Above normal typically wins. Monthly and seasonally.

Summer has to really suck up there. At least down here the threat of the tropics is something for us to keep us on our toes from time to time.

One man's trash is another's treasure. I'll take hot & sunny kind of boring any time.

That said, in a "normal" Summer (granted, what the heck even is normal any more give the way this decade has gone so far with all the extremes), we'd still have the threat of MCS / derechos diving out of OK from time-to-time, and not just the one-week kitchen sink wonder we got this past season.
