Re: Texas Winter 2023-2024
Whenever you have to pull out the calculator to figure how many feet of snow… lol. What a storm in the high sierras and great news for California’s mid term water supply.
As far as our winter let’s put a fork in it. Trees and plants are already doing so.

Thankfully a stronger front moves in tommorow at least provides a temporary relief from this absolutely atrocious warmth, when summer hits, yall will be wishing for another cold front lol

Yeah nice temp bust for sure. Supposed to be close to 90 as the forecast and we got a high so far of 77.

Horrible fires in the Panhandle it appears. Some of these pictures look like nothing I've ever seen
The lack of rain is a much bigger problem than winter going away

I’ve heard 300,000 acres have burned. Wonder if that’s a state record.

Absolutely terrible with all the wildfires going on, once i get all my student debt paid off, i might be through with living in texas, it is impossible to have a normal summer in this state, its always an endless blast furnace with little precipitation unless its from a tropical system

When you’ve lived here your entire life, it’s more tolerable. I’d much rather live here than deal with subzero temperatures.

Cpv17 too each their own, ive lived in texas 90% of my life, the last few summers have done it for me, i personally do not function well in the heat, i work more efficiently in cooler temperatures , i can tolerate 80’s and low humidity, but once you get to 90+ with high dew points, you will never find me outside unless its at the beach or lakes/ river nearby lol

Not sure if its a lack of rain issue, they've seen plenty by their standards this winter! Strong winds, higher temps and dormant grasslands this time of year in that part of the country is always high risk.

Re: Texas Winter 2023-2024
The satellite hot spots paint a grim picture this morning for the NE Panhandle. They show that the Windy Deuce Fire has spread about 15 miles SE overnight, now the hot spots on that fire cover 150k acres (not saying all of that has burned, until we get an official update today). The Smokehouse Creek Fire is officially over 500k acres, though the hot spot perimeter this morning measures over 1M acres. The weather has shifted this morning with winds dying down to around 10mph and temps in the 20s. Tomorrow the Panhandle will see rain and snow which should further assist. Beyond tomorrow weather worsens again with warm and dry air and high winds this weekend. Hopefully the fire can be contained today and tomorrow before conditions worsen again. As of now though the fire is 0% contained.

Re: Texas Winter 2023-2024
I often ignore wildfire news since very rarely does it actually hit a town, but early reports indicate it did this time. Sad.
I remember when I lived in Midland we had to evacuate due to a fire approaching. Luckily it stopped.

Very little activity in those other threads. It's just fun to talk about warmth when it's cold season but come actual summer few posts. But what's there to post other than 90-105 everyday for five months . My posts in summer thread usually consists of cpc noting excessive heat risks every other week.

My allergies are usually the worst thing here. I actually thought they were starting up yesterday but they don't seem so bad today (may have just been all the smoke yesterday)
It's only a matter of time though if we stay on the warmer side. Hopefully we get into a wetter pattern soon instead of everything being east of us
