I feel the same way and I’m 2 hours southeast of you. Everything seems to blow up around Houston and points east of there. It’s really annoying. And this upcoming event is trending towards the same thing happening once again.

Would love to see the orange blob nudge about 50 miles west giving us a better chance and then move out before Christmas morning. I'm smoking two chickens and would like a sunny cool day to be outside.

Yeah this pattern sure is frustrating. The hardest hit drought areas in the state can't catch a break...almost all of the events are too far east for us to get some significant drought relief.

I'm still very concerned even if we get cold the real fun will be east of us I mean old patterns are hard to break unfortunately and personally dry cold does nothing for me

Interesting to see the GFS and Euro both agree on a 2nd shortwave trough moving in behind the main christmas system, both models have some marginal cold air to work with, but differ on if any precip can be produced, about 9 days out, but something to watch

This scenario playing out (especially on the 12z Euro - 9", yes please) is what my hopes for any meaningful snow while I'm in Iowa for the holidays hinges upon... snow starting Christmas night and lingering for a couple of days.

Lalaland 18z GFS is the map/look we'd be aiming for. Pacific side high latitude blocking builds cold air over NA and the STJ keeps the available cold delivered with the active storm track.

One thing is coming into focus, once the Christmas period system passes we will likely go below normal and stay there for some time. Perhaps well into January.

Yeah at least one TV station up here is all in... It just keeps getting colder through the 10 day with a high in the 30s at the end. This is still before January btw

Of course, the 06z GFS and 12z NAM cut totals way back I'm going to chalk that up to poor handling of the H5 setup. This is where the Euro and Canadian have really shown improved skill over the GFS.

Looks like we'll make it into early January without any freezing temps either in Houston or up in the D-FW area. Fine with me. Doctor says I can return to biking in 3 more weeks (hernia surgery last Tuesday). Feel great already. Zero discomfort.
