Outside of the Rockies, most of the so called snowpack will be melted away in the next couple weeks. The entire nation will have to start over come Christmas into January. But it ain't over.

However, after a couple terrible snow years back to back, we’re finally getting snow storm after snow storm in Westcliffe, CO.

There have definitely been some sweet spots this year. Was in Crested Butte the week of Thanksgiving, and ski season has started reasonably well. Plenty of snow to get started, and they've had a couple of decent storms since then. We drove through Westcliffe on the way home, and roads were snow-packed on 69 almost all the way to I-25. Westcliffe is a cute little town - it's always our last stop on the way to CB and first stop on the drive home.

Until we see the snowpack start to build, good luck getting any big cold snaps down here, any cold air coming down will modify rapidly

Can't sleep so I did what all insomniacs do; look at radar. Filling in nicely to the west and northwest. Slowly creeping our way and hopefully will blanket the area in a few hours. Similar to "a watched pot never boils", "a watched radar never rains".

Doesn't get much better than the latest Euro Long Range model for cold/stormy across the US for January :double: . Going to some of the best snow analogs we have in the southern plains

Excellent, I am in no rush for uncomfortable extreme cold weather. San Antonio highs have been basically tracking the seasonal average in the 60's and it has been awesome. Love being able to spend so much time outside and not have the cold fingers, noses, and ears of up north. One of the big benefits of living this far south. A few spells in Jan/Feb is enough.

Am thankful for a very good Fall so far. No freezing, ice, snow? Don't care, had pleasant!

So, the rain seems to be below the NBM for my location in north Fort Worth but does show up to 3 inches or so by next weekend, so it looks to get very rainy.

I dont want extreme cold, i just want a couple of days in the 30’s with some snow on the ground, beats these very boring and uninteresting seasonal temps we have had, hopefully we can get that MJO to move into and stay locked into a colder phase eventually, also need the EPO and AO to trend negativr as well in the coming weeks

I think this board needs a "dislike" button. Just kidding @dpep4. I get what you are stating.

The week of Christmas the northern jet stream will shut off and the subtropical (southern) jet stream will take over. This is El Nino business, especially deeper into the winter. Again the big storms will be there, we just need to build some cold air.
