Anybody besides me looking forward to Rush @12?

#1 Postby j » Mon Nov 17, 2003 10:33 am

Just curious....anybody out there besides me glad to see Rush is back on the air today? I have listened off and on over the past month, but there is nothing like the real deal. However, many thanks to Walter Williams, a brilliant Conservative black man, who has filled in admirably for Limbaugh in his abscense, and all the other guest hosts over the past month.

Chances are good now that you won't be able to hear his show in its entirety. Worse, you might not be able to hear when he first signs on the air. It's going to be close.

The reason why -- they've just reached a verdict in the first sniper case. I'm sure they won't read it for another hour or maybe longer. But you know how the media likes to hover on the air while waiting.

He deserves to be back on, if only I had the time to listen to him... At leats now we'll have the truth and not the liberal BS that we are accustomed to hearing

Shawn, I assume you were referring to the fact that the affiliates Rush is on would carry breaking news on the Sniper Verdict, being that his broadcasts are mainly on AM news/talk stations, rather than FM non-news radio stations.

Rush opened his show yesterday with the humor that we have come to know and love, with an inference to the verdict coming down and timing thereof. He said that there was an attempt to undermind his debut by releasing the verdict at the same time he would come on the air but their timing was off and they failed.

Was a great show yesterday, from a man that claims to be re-born. He was also quite a bit more candid about his addiction and the fact that he did it because he liked it. This statement alone, was proof enough for me that there is nothing but truth coming from Rush. He did not have to admit to that, and it is rare even in recovery to hear an addict say they did it because they liked it. He was not making any excuses..but he did not want to have the operation that would have required entry through the vocal chords, so he chose drugs. He also let it be known that he never was different on the air because of his addiction, but off the air he was. The man tried to kick the habit himself twice, but now understands he can't do it alone. He needs help.

Another revelation was that he told the audience that he never lied to them, but that he was lying to himself, and understanding that was what finally gave him the power to face this challenge.

It is very difficult to be honest about an issue like that and Rush sure indicated it with his words Monday afternoon.

Rush is back

What else could he have said? What if he made excuses or lied? Would he still be right?

It would be (even) worse if he lied and made excuses. He is being honest and upfront with his fans [and others].

Rush

#15 Postby sunnyday » Tue Nov 18, 2003 10:42 pm

What I'm amazed at is that no matter what he says or does, his fans say he's right! He had lived a hypocritical life, criticizing young people who took drugs, saying that they should be put on the curb with the trash, and all the while he was doing the same thing. I couldn't trust someone who said one thing and lived another.

Rush went into quite a lengthy explanation regarding this very subject. Obviously, you didn't hear it! :) His stance is that he was delivering a message...and the message in itself he stands behind. The fact that he was not living the life consistant with his "preachings", does not in itself, make the message wrong.

About his fans saying he's right all the time. He also addressed this issue. :) He cited an independent research team out of Sacramento (I believe) that actually did some research into "all" of Rush's "claims" and found him to actually be right I think it was 93% of the time.

Now nobody in their right mind believes Rush is right all the time, but I like the odds myself. :)

He also said he is alone responsible for his problem. When he has railed against the addictive it has always been in regards to the excuses and they way they were protrayed as victims. Listen every once and a while. You may learn something.

Fact is if someone supports an individual.. that supports their beliefs and ideas they don't see everything clearly and tend to forgive and forget alot easier than say someone they didn't like in the first place.
