Got a light rain round mid afternoon, now another steady rain now. High only 87 at my house, instead of 107. Unheard of!

0.10" this morning. Not much, but the most I've seen since August 27th when I got 0.07". Baby steps.

GFS puts a dot of 3" of rain through Sunday directly over my house in the middle of Comal County. Hilarious since my house has been in a rain/hell hole for months.
I'm sure the GFS will verify this time.

20+ foot storm surge on the Bolivar Peninsula will do that no way anyone survived that if they didn’t evacuate.

I don’t see how the storm surge was that high from a Cat 2. That’s crazy to me.

After a high of 110 last Friday, 82F so far today. What a far cry! Even some 90s I think I can live with it.
Southern half the state still relatively hot. Hopefully we can get a stronger front to come in and clear the state.

Ike had a very large wind field which lead to the higher than normal surge. I believe Ike was one of the biggest storms in terms of size ever recorded in the Gulf.

Mother had two beach houses there. Both completely gone.

1 inch of rain for me in the last 30 minutes. Hardest it has rained here in a while.

One more mph in sustained winds at landfall would have made it a category 3. Plus it had a very large wind field. Plus almost half of the population refused to comply with evacuation orders. Plus there was a big difference between direct and indirect deaths.

Very long lived hurricane, several EWRCs and a previous landfall in Cuba all made the storm enormous... over 500 miles in diameter (you're right, the largest ever in the Gulf). The ACE on Ike was incredible. It was a Cat 4 disguised as a Cat 2.

The radar is a cruel joke. Storms to the south and stoms to the north with nothing over DFW. It's like it split in two leaving the metro high and dry. Unreal.

Re: Texas Fall 2023
I've only seen light showers overnight, nothing during the day this week so far. While I'm glad to see cooler temperatures, the expected rain has been a major let down to this point. Lot of good rain to the south, west, and northeast, but across DFW proper it's been sad.

Intense heavy rains this morning just north of Austin, in Wilco. Looks like 3.5"-4". Only about 1/8" here in east Austin. And unfortunately looks like the big dump was a few miles too far to the east to help the lakes.

Feels like the Houston forecast is going to bust. At least for north Houston. We'll see....
