Is the rain event over for Puerto Rico?

The water vapor image shows dry air trying to filter in from the east but in a slow pace as the low pressure trough moved west this morning over PR.Heavy showers moved from NE to SW this morning making another round of flash floods but not at the magnitud of the ones in the paat week.This afternoon it is cloudy mainly highh clouds but without rain.Let's see if a slow drying trend arrives starting tommorow but it will need at leaat 5-6 days of sunny days to dry those extreme saturated grounds and for the rivers to get to a normal height.

The latest discussion came out and dont says nothing that is positive in terms of a real drying trend but I can say that what happened in the paat 6 days is over and what we will see is the lingering moisture and the afternoon diurnal heating showers starting tommorow so we will see.

Looking through my window it's starting to look a little bit better. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Like you said we'll probably need 5-6 days of good weather for things to start to look normal.

For the first time in 7 days I saw the sunrise in San Juan.

That low pressure trough has moved west well away so now the weather here will be influenced buy local effects in other words better weather comming our way slowly but surely.

It might be over for PR but I was just watching the Weather Channel and the NWS has posted a flash flood warning for St. Croix(until 3:00 PM AST)
stating that a nearly stationery area of heavy rain could cause severe problems there.

I saw that same sunrise! And actually got to work today! A personal thanks to all who were supportive and especially to Cycloneye with his informative posts during what has been one of those weather experiences for the books. My yard (and island) is still sloppy with mud but hopefully not for long. HOORAY THE SUN!!!
(expect to hear from STX friends later today...hope all is well, along with the DR, who had some horrendous weather as well)

Thank you caribepr and about PR this afternoon we had a flash flood warning for all of PR that expires at 6:00 Pm due to the diurnal showers that normally form almost all the afternoons at the mountains but nothing related to a trough.Tommorow afternoon again there will be flash floods and this will continue until all the grounds dry up bigtime.

Yes, that beautiful sunrise was a welcome sight after so much rain. It was a dry night in Guaynabo and with such a clear and sunny day, I decided to do some pre-holiday painting on my house. Big mistake :cry:

because at 11 AM we had a torrential downpour which lasted about an hour. I had just begun painting, so not too much damage was done. Next time I'll check the forecast first.

Sorry to see about your paint in your house didn't get to a great start but I have great news to report.

Read the last paragrafh of the discussion and you will see that real dry air will arrive by sunday as the front passes on saturday so good weather is expected by early next week so you can complete the painting of your house.

that means East in our direction?
should we be looking for storms tonight?

There may be some showers in your vicinity tonight but will not be an all night rainy night but widely scattered.
