But doesn't the weather channel get their information from Knabb though? And he's incredibly respected when it comes to the tropics.
I am quite sure Knabb periodically writes up his analysis for each on-camera person to refer to as they come on to their shift. Just as John Hope did, or Brian Norcross, etc. Some just have a better background in tropical to be able to interpret his written briefings.
Also, I did not mean ad revenue was the ONLY objective, just the #1 objective---as with most corporations.
As far as current conditions, one factor is never mentioned: we are approaching Magic Week (Sept 1-7)---when even a school of dolphin swimming in a counterclockwise dance can create enough vorticity to initiate tropical cyclone genesis. Or a cruise ship serving chile for dinner, can create enough rising air several hours later, to set off massive convection, then dropping pressures. Or so it seems.
Or more realistically, early September is when the oceans have reached their maximum heat content, and begin to release this massive heat back into the atmosphere.
