We're paying for all the rain we got...

Sometimes it ain't a good thing. Like Tulsa hasn't set one record high temperature this year but yet...

I don’t even see how it’s possible to have feels like temps that high all the way in OK. I never would’ve thought that.

Yeah I'm pretty shocked too... Like I know the GFS had been showing extreme heat for days but like I never expected we'd be the worst temps of the summer

I don’t understand the moisture source for places that far north.

It's even crazier because the rain shut off a couple weeks ago. I don't get it either. This whole summer has been wack with humidity all over it seems even where actual temps weren't record setting like Texas

Crop irrigation and "corn sweat." Areas of northeast Kansas and southeast Nebraska have had moderate fog most mornings during this heat wave. On Sunday, a weak "cool front" moved into northeast Kansas bringing in much higher dewpoints. At the same time, soundings from Topeka and Omaha showed 600-603 500mb heights that put a lid on boundary layer moisture and prevented the mixing out of that moisture. So high morning dewpoints remained high all day.

I truly hate to say it, but far North Texas welcomes y’all to the summer of hell club.

It's either very high temperatures, or very high Heat Index with the torturous humidity

It's such a beautiful sight to see beneficial rainfall spreading across south Texas today. :D

It has been a slow process with this stubborn pattern but the winds of change are slowly blowing. Up here in DFW some 90s are in the forecast starting next Monday. I am so ready to kick summer the hell out and replace it with a pattern change/transition to autumn. For many reasons, August by far is the worst month of the year. Fall can't get here soon enough.

I’ve heard about “corn sweat” but those are sick THIs and they extend beyond corn country. Just miserable to imagine. We spent summers in AR back in the 80s and it felt different in the piney woods when it was very hot and no wind. Legitimately like a sauna.

For DFW there seems to be a pinprick of light in the tunnel for next week. High 90s toward end of forecast.

Yeah, we visited Arkansas this past July. The temps were only in the upper 80s/low 90s at the time, but the humidity is noticeably different from Central Texas!lol Felt like a Sauna in the woods at our VRBO near Hot Springs. But a very picturesque place!

The models are insisting that the 600 dm ridge is only weakening from now on!

A blast from the past for this brutal summer. My Astros were horrible back then..

Oh hey Porta ( Using my "hey ma no hands while showing you this)...
I wanna move. This is so killing my running. Goodness. I just get where I do not even want to try..sigh...

.DISCUSSION...
A DIAL IN TO THE IAH ASOS INDICATES THAT THE TEMPERATURE HIT 100
DEGREES AGAIN TODAY...KEEPING HOUSTON`S ONGOING STREAK OF 100
DEGREE DAYS GOING AT 13 DAYS IN A ROW. THIS IS ALSO THE 24TH DAY
THIS SEASON OF 100 DEGREE TEMPERATURES IN HOUSTON...TYING WITH
1998 FOR THE SECOND HIGHEST TOTAL FOR AN ENTIRE SUMMER.

While we are at it, let us just break all the records...If the Astros can do it, so can Mother Nature....ugghhh

AS FOR THE RECORDS...THERE`S A GOOD CHANCE THAT HOUSTON`S
CONSECUTIVE DAY 100-DEGREE RECORD WILL BE TIED OR BROKEN IN THE
NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. EVEN IF THIS RECORD IS NOT BROKEN...OTHER
RECORDS ARE THREATENED INCLUDING THE MOST 100-DEGREE DAYS IN
AUGUST (14 DAYS IN 1993)...MOST 100-DEGREE DAYS IN A MONTH (18
DAYS IN JULY 1980)...AND MOST 100-DEGREE DAYS FOR AN ENTIRE SUMMER
(32 DAYS IN 1980).

I have had a whopping 0.08 inches of Rain according to my PWS. Officially at the McAllen Airport 0.23 so far...I don't like being on the south side of a tropical system. Happy for all the folks in South Texas getting some rain and at least this will be a good rain maker for the watershed.

I noticed that too (fingers crossed).

Hopefully not another model mirage like we've had all Summer.

It's breezy with some wind gusts here in the Austin area right now, with more clouds than sun around! That's a big plus for here.

Wonder if Camp Mabry will make it to 100 today(?). Or will they not make it and break the 45 consecutive day streak of 100-degree days (or however long? I've lost count.lol)? I'm hoping they just hit 99. -removed-.

But they'll probably make it to 100. It was 93 at noon. Usually add 10 degrees to the high from the noon temps.

It seems like eastern KS closer to the Ozarks has higher dews as well.

While more a wheat state, definitely it has more corn in the east as well.
