8-10 days out is long range, but I wouldn’t call it fantasy land. Probably overdoing it some, but honestly it’s not a huge deviation from what it’s showing in the near term.

Texas in now the new NM/AZ. I dont remember what grass even looks like after the past 2 summers.

El Niño ? Where? I agree Yukon. I’ve never seen anything like this. It’s unbearable… it’s probably not but it seems worse than 2011.

Depends on where you are, but 2011 encompassed more area into severe drought. This year, while bad in many places, the worst is more confined to central and south TX.

IF you look at the NWS forecast for NTX they have temps ranging from 105 to 109 for the next 7 days.

Euro has 110F+ this weekend for DFW. Usually more conservative than GFS. The heat dome will likely cause some ~115F readings in the central plains.

Yep, I couldn't believe what I was seeing as I was watching it! I thought my feed had gone wonky or that somehow the radar was down. Craziest thing I have ever seen for a tropical system and I've lived on or near the Gulf coast since 1954.
