That's good for us, right (can't remember the SOI numbers)?

Yep, negative SOI values typically lead to wetter patterns here.

NW flow is already doing wonders for us here... This will be the third night in a row with a storm complex from Kansas

So far they expect it to and apparently there's a second impulse from the west too which flares it up more

Also a slight risk from the SPC on Wednesday

Looks like OK and AR are getting hammered this morning.

So close, yet so far.

And DFW sits at 88F as of 6:00a. Reminds me of a few mornings during summer of 2011 when the best we could do was mid/upper 80s.

7 more days and average daily highs at DFW begin to lower. At this point I think most of us would gladly take "average" highs.

So close, yet so far is right. The southern edge of that complex, while not as impressive as in OK/AR, is going to scrape just to my north.

HRRR and NAMNST thinks a storm or two may form between Forth Worth and the Red River this afternoon. Maybe one of you will get lucky.

Latest GFS seems to find lots of clever ways to give us no rain. Multiple teases. Maybe we get some on August 24th.

Yesterday despite the forecasted high in the low 90s got up to 104. Yesterday was also the 32nd day of over 100 with no end in sight forecasted.

A 16-day rain wishcast?

I'll take it. :cheesy:

All the lawns in my hood, including mine, look worse than this time last year. There is a cumulative effect since things hadn’t recovered.

Just counting the days til October when maybe the nino kicks in and we get some overriding pacific storm moisture.

I made the statement the other day that with the current PDO we could see the possiablilty of 100+ days all the way to the end of August. We need RAIN in a bad way now, after arriving home Sunday my first job was to turn the soaker on between the house and the front bushes. Never have I seen this many grasshoppers and crickets in the front yard (Desert) that I did yesterday. ONLY good thing in my mind is I haven't had to worry about mowing the yard, this summer. :sun: :onfire: :onfire:

Today at least had some clouds for awhile so the temp was cooler.

I believe August 13 DFW goes from 97 to 96. Unfortunately a couple more weeks of hell are on the menu.

With today being DFW’s 31st day over 100, and 17th consecutive, this summer is starting close in on the top ranks. With each of the next 10 days forecast to exceed 100, we would move into the following rankings if that verifies:
-10th all time for most days at or above 100
-4th for longest consecutive days over 100

Given that any real sort of relief before the end of the month is looking less likely, I could see us moving into 5th or 6th for total days and 3rd for consecutive days.

And to think after last year's 47 days >= 100 I thought we'd get a break for a few years. It seems pretty likely we'll catch or pass that mark at this point.

We really got spoiled by 2014-2021 (with the exception of 2018). Mild summers comparatively speaking, 3 years in that stretch had 10 or fewer 100 degree days, and all except 2018 had fewer 100 degree days than normal. Even 2018 doesn't look so bad now...23 days >= 100.

Cold PDO can really drive this whatever the ENSO. 1998-2000, 2008-2012, 2022-?
